The “Tianzhuzhai” woodblock watermarking technique was created by the Ming Dynasty Hu Zhengyan, and the coloring and overprinting technologies such as “饾版” and “Arch Flower” were developed to the extreme, and the “Ten Zhuzhai Book Paintings” and “Shizhuzhai” were launched. The glorious era of color printing has made the peak of Chinese print art. In 2001, Wei Lizhong, the inheritor of the national intangible cultural heritage, founded the Hangzhou Shizhuzhai Art Museum and determined to revitalize the traditional wooden watermarking skills. In 2013, the Shizhuzhai Art Museum was awarded the “National Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Research Base”. In 2014, the Shizhuzhai woodblock watermarking technique was included in the “National Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection List”. In 2018, the Shizhuzhai woodblock watermark art exhibition was unveiled in Nanchang, Chengdu, Hangzhou and Beijing. The exhibition of the National Art Museum of China is the last stop of the four exhibitions of the “Twelve Bamboo Wood Watermark Art Exhibition”. The exhibition will end on September 16.
