1. Familiarize yourself with the type of paper you can provide by contacting your salesperson at the printer or paper mill. They will provide constantly updated material samples, sheet paper samples, and printed samples.
2. Note the information provided by the paper manufacturer. It can indicate the reproduction of the paper under different printing conditions.
3. Avoid using coated paper, such as a reply card, for prints that must be written on it. Coated paper tends to cause the writing to be erased and blurred, especially after the paper has been glazed.
4. Do not underestimate the impact of paper on print quality. Paper accounts for about 1/3 to 1/2 of the total operating cost. Savings in paper costs will easily reduce the quality of the print.
5. A small change in the basic weight of the paper can affect the offset of the printed image on the other side, and the use of heavier paper can reduce the offset when printing the color block using the offset press. If you decide to use high-weight paper, check to see if it affects the cost of mailing.
6. Understand all the “internal” papers of the printing company you can understand. Printing companies usually choose and store their paper. Their purchases allow them to buy at a discounted price. A company's paper is not kept the same, so ask every time.
