In the field of label printing, many label printing companies have begun to switch to the addition of flexographic printing presses to print labels by the use of gap-type rotary embossing machines and all-round embossing machines.


In the flexible packaging industry, gravure to flexo printing has always been the main battlefield of environmentalism and effect theory. Everyone agrees with the environmental friendliness of flexo printing, but it is difficult to agree with the printing effect of flexo printing. However, in the self-adhesive industry, gravure to flexo printing is very optimistic in printing, and it is also very economical.


The reason for embossing to flexo


1. The customer sample obtained by the label printing company is a flexographic sample. However, at this stage, the embossed mesh is not as good as the flexo, the color is not as bright as the flexo, and the ghost can't be cured; the combination printing on the embossing machine is limited, and it is not easy to do whatever it pleases. The ground determines the printing color sequence of screen printing and cold ironing. Therefore, rotating embossing and flexographic printing samples are too hard. Over time, companies will have a desire to buy flexo presses.


2. The production capacity of the embossing machine can't keep up, not only the large quantity of orders can't be produced, but the total cost is relatively higher, so it needs to be embossed to flexo.


3. The quality stability of the embossed label is greatly affected by the boot master, and as long as the parameters of the flexo printing machine are set correctly, the quality of the printed product will not be far away, and the colors of the printed products produced by different batches are the same. From the perspective of technical stability and management science, companies also need to emboss and turn flexo.


In principle, no embossed product can be converted into flexo. However, technically speaking, because the embossing has the advantages of thick ink color and not easy to block the plate, some embossed samples have deep ink and dots in the ink color, or gradients with great contrast, and the embossing is used with flexo printing. It is not easy to achieve, and it takes a lot of effort to avoid the weakness of flexo printing in prepress design. Most of the rest of the embossed prints are not problematic. Because, in fact, flexo printing is also a kind of embossing, and also uses the resin version, but the hardness is softer than the embossed printing plate. Although the printing pressures of the two are not the same, they are relatively close, and all have edge imprints, but the printing dots of the embossing are mostly hollow, and the flexo printing is solid. If this is not a professional and is observed with a magnifying glass, it is generally difficult to distinguish the difference between the two. Therefore, it is relatively easy to exchange orders between embossing and flexo.


The reason for label offset printing to flexo


1. Offset printing once occupied more than half of China's printing industry. Many companies have already used offset printing to print packaging boxes before they do the self-adhesive label business. Therefore, there are still customers who take the trademark effect on the packaging box to require the label printing company to print the same effect label, which is one of the typical cases of offset printing to flexo printing.


2. The sample provided by the customer is printed by a combination flexo press with an offset printing device, and without a similar printing machine, the offset portion must be converted to flexo printing.


3. When the order is small, it should be handled by offset proofing, but when the order quantity increases and exceeds the expected, it has to be offset to flexo.


4. The technical difficulty of controlling offset ink balance is high, and the color stability is far less than flexo printing. Customers often complain that the color error range is beyond the standard, so it is necessary to offset the flexo printing.


Advantages of self-adhesive label gravure to flexo


1. Use a gravure when the amount is large, and use a flexo when the amount is large.

Take a brand of watermark on the market as an example. The label of the 330ml product is gravure-printed due to the large amount of the product. However, the volume of the water-label of the 1L product is small, which is flexographic printing. The label of a brand of 330ml beer was previously flexographically printed. Later, when the order quantity became larger, it was changed to gravure printing.


The shrink sleeve label used to belong to the gravure market before, but now, due to the variety of varieties, the amount of singles has become smaller. For example, some shower gel orders, if the gravure printing shrink sleeve is used, the cost of the plate making and the minimum ink consumption cannot be earned. Therefore, it has to be changed from a gravure shrink sleeve to a flexo sticker, or a narrow flexo press to print a shrink sleeve. A brand of color-screened shower gel labels on the market, 200ml and 400ml are all using gravure shrink sleeve labels, while 750ml and 1000ml are using flexo stickers.


2. According to the requirements of the labeling production line

Nongfu Springs 550ml bottled water, using a high-speed labeling machine, can be adapted to high-speed labeling with gravure printed wrap labels. However, the 4L bottled water has a small output and the labeling speed is not fast. Therefore, the self-adhesive labeling machine used is naturally made of self-adhesive.
