If the UV ink is divided according to the printing method, it can be divided into UV offset printing ink, UV embossing ink, UV screen printing ink, UV flexo ink, UV gravure ink and UV ink. However, since UV inks used in China are mainly UV offset inks and UV embossing inks, other types are less involved, so the UV inks mentioned in this article mainly refer to these two types.
In China, UV inks and UV printing are “imported products” and there has been no specific industry standard for a long time. Until 2006, under the organization of the National Ink Standardization Technical Committee, companies such as Hanghua Ink Chemical Co., Ltd. and Tianjin Toyo Ink Co., Ltd. participated in the formulation of QB/T 2826-2006 "Offset UV Curing Ink" industry standard. Since then, domestic UV ink manufacturers have had standards to follow.
When formulating QB/T 2826-2006 "Offset UV Curing Ink", experts inside and outside the industry may consider the development status of domestic UV inks, but only solve the problem of UV ink standards from scratch, and did not give specific Green environmental parameters, there is no green certification method for UV inks, but a basic industry standard has been formed, which solves the problem of “what is UV ink”, which leads to the long-term green UV environmental protection standards. The lack of problems has finally led to the failure of green certification standards for UV printing. UV printing companies still need additional quality control standards to explain the greenness of UV printing products, such as UV ink products should meet the limits of heavy metals, phthalates (low esters) and low halogen standards. Table 1 shows the environmental standards for UV printing products that several domestic printing companies may need to implement.
Fortunately, the lack of domestic UV ink green environmental standards does not restrict the development and progress of this industry. Some ink manufacturers take green environmental protection as the first principle, strictly demanding themselves, using high-purity raw materials, and limiting the content of toxic and harmful substances such as plasticizers, heavy metals, benzenes, ketones and other aromatic hydrocarbon volatile organic compounds. Today, UV inks and UV printing have become the mainstay of the printing industry after a decade of development. At the same time, UV inks are also eager to meet new national standards for environmental protection.
