There are many factors affecting the quality of commodity barcodes. Among them, the quality assurance system of printing enterprises plays a decisive role. The "Implementation Measures for the Qualification Recognition of Commodity Barcode Printing" issued by the former State Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision is to start from the printing enterprises and to ensure the quality of good bar codes from the source. Controlling and improving the quality of commodity barcodes will play a positive role in protecting the interests of system members, printing companies and dealers using commodity barcodes.
How should printing companies guarantee the printing quality of commodity barcodes to protect the rights of system members and the interests of enterprises themselves? The author believes that it should start from the following aspects.
Do a good job of product barcode printing
The printability test is an experiment conducted to verify the adaptability between printing conditions such as printing equipment, carriers, printing processes, inks, and the like to determine bar code film design data. The printing company is conducting a suitability test to determine the strip width adjustment (BWC) and minimum magnification factor required to produce a bar code film under a particular printing condition.
The steps of the print adaptation test are:
1) After obtaining the bar code symbol level printing suitability rule from the branch of China Article Coding Center, the printing enterprise will place it on the corners of the printed film and print it together to ensure the printing equipment and printing carrier used in the bar code printing suitability test. Printing conditions such as printing process and ink are exactly the same as official printing bar code symbols and printing conditions.
2) The printing enterprise extracts 9 samples from the printed matter of the bar code symbol level and prints it to the branches of the China Article Coding Center for testing, and initially determines the bar width adjustment under the printing conditions (BWC) and the printing conditions. The minimum magnification factor allowed (Mmin).
3) The branch of the China Article Numbering Center provides the barcode film for verification according to the determined strip width adjustment (BWC) and minimum magnification factor (Mmin). The printing enterprise uses this film to print and resample under the same conditions as the suitability test. If the inspection is passed, the strip width adjustment (BWC) and the minimum amplification factor (Mmin) under the printing conditions can be determined. If it is not qualified, continue to test and adjust until the printing is qualified.
According to the bar code film design data determined by the printability test, the original film is customized, and the film content such as code system, magnification factor, strip width reduction, positive and negative film, etc. are consistent with the requirements, and also according to the suitability test. The data determines the printing direction of the product barcode, such as vertical printing, parallel printing, and the like.
Choose a reasonable color matching
The product barcode is a special reading device that reads according to the width and contrast of the strip. Therefore, the larger the contrast between the strip and the empty color, the better, that is, the empty color should be shallow, the strip color should be deep, and the red color must not be used. Do not use gold (such as gold cardboard, silver cardboard) to make empty colors.
Choose a print position that meets the standard
The principle of determining the printing position of the product barcode is that the printed barcode symbol is not covered, deformed, and easy to read. Therefore, GB/14257 "General Product Bar Code Symbol Location" should be strictly implemented to select a correct and reasonable printing position.
The appropriate bar code symbol size should be selected in accordance with GB12904 "Commodity Bar Code". In principle, the bar code symbol should not be cut off. The size of the left and right blank areas must be sufficient according to the requirements of the national standards, otherwise it will affect the correct reading of the bar code symbols.
