Plastic bag labeling case
In the winter, a northern chemical plant is labelled on the plastic bag of washing powder. The environmental temperature of the labeling is above 12 °C. After labeling, the product is immediately pulled into the open warehouse for storage. The temperature of the warehouse is below zero. When the product was shipped out, the label was found to be seriously curled or peeled off.
Solution: Change the product indoors (at around 12 °C at room temperature) and store it in the open warehouse after one day. The problem disappears.
Analysis of the cause: The crux of the problem is that it does not provide sufficient conditions to ensure the viscosity after labeling. The labeling process of the self-adhesive label is divided into two stages, that is, the label is initially combined with the surface of the object under the action of pressure; and the pre-applied glue on the self-adhesive material is slowly flowed and fully combined with the surface of the substrate to be attached. Play the best stickiness. The lower the ambient temperature, the slower the glue flows and the more the glue exerts its optimum viscosity.
Experiments have shown that the glue usually takes 24 hours to achieve the best adhesion after labeling. Therefore, after labeling, the labeled container or product should be placed in the labeling environment or the environment that meets the labeling temperature for at least 24 hours. Do not place the container or product that has just been labeled in a temperature-constrained environment. Otherwise, the viscosity of the glue will be affected.
Plastic bottle labeling case
A bottle maker had problems marking the plastic bottle on the shampoo. The labeling environment temperature is above 18 °C. The shampoo plastic bottles are sorted and placed in a 10 °C warehouse for storage. When the product is out of the warehouse, the label is warped.
Solution: It was found in the on-site investigation that the problem was caused by the customer directly using the frostbite label. It is recommended that the bottle factory place two shovel plates in the labeling workshop to store the labels to be used the next day. After the label is preset for 24 hours, the viscosity and processing performance are restored, and the above problems do not occur again.
Analysis of the cause: The storage environment temperature of the label should not be too low, and should normally be controlled above 5-8 °C. Especially before labeling, the label should not be placed outdoors, to avoid frost damage to the label and loss of glue viscosity. If the label storage conditions are not satisfactory, the label has been frostbittened. It is recommended to put the label in the labeling environment for a long enough time before labeling, so that the temperature of the label (roll or single package) is from outside to inside. The labeling temperature is reached, so that the tackiness and processability of the sticker are also restored.
Tests have shown that the glue will have a sharp drop or loss of viscosity after freezing (-10 ° C). After proper recovery, the viscosity can be fully or largely restored. Viscosity and processability recovery times can be approximated by the temperature recovery of the label, depending on the field conditions used and the package size of the label. Recommended: Leave at least 24 hours in conditions above 10 °C.
