Creativity × Craft × Brand | The 5th Greater Bay Area Printing Technology and Creative Ability Awards are officially kicking off!

When the wild ideas of innovative design meet the hardcore strength of top-notch printing technology, and the classic heritage of time-honored brands combines with the fresh energy of university youth, a printing and packaging innovation event spanning the entire industry chain now opens its doors to you!

The 5th Greater Bay Area Printing Technology and Creative Capability Awards connect real brand needs, academic design resources from universities, and top-tier printing capabilities. Using CTV color as the standard, it measures the boundaries of creativity and craftsmanship, breaking the long-standing industry pain points of separated creativity, craftsmanship, and branding. It truly builds a complete collaborative loop of 'Brand Proposition × University Design × Printing Technology,' giving good ideas on paper the practical support they need, letting advanced printing technology find real brand application scenarios, and ultimately achieving a seamless transition from concept to mass-producible commercial products.

01 Three Real Brand Challenges Unlocked, Real Business Scenarios Await Your Take

This year's competition is upgraded for the first time to a three-brand parallel mode. Each brand comes with its own unique packaging challenge. No more doing designs that are disconnected from the market-every creative idea you submit goes straight to real business needs:

✅ Guangzhou Restaurant: A time-honored Chinese brand, focusing on mooncakes and food products

✅ Wugu Mofang: A national health food brand, targeting grains and nutrition

✅ Kangaroo Mom: A professional maternal and baby skincare brand, designed for parent-child consumer scenarios

The competition has a unified four-dimensional scoring system to ensure cross-category fairness and comparability, pushing the event from a single-award model to a full-scale packaging innovation platform that meets real brand needs.

02 Two distinct tracks to precisely match the capabilities of different participants

The competition is divided into two independent entry groups, with registration open to professionals of different backgrounds:

🎨 Visual Creative Design Track | For college students, teachers, design companies, and independent designers

Whether you're a student majoring in packaging design, visual communication, or related fields, or an independent designer, studio team, or a printing company or design firm from the Greater Bay Area or across the country, you can freely choose any of the three brand briefs to create your work (you can choose multiple, but submissions must be separate).

Every creative proposal you submit will receive professional guidance from mentors in both design and craftsmanship to strengthen commercial aesthetics and practical feasibility. Outstanding works may advance to the second stage of creative iteration with printing companies, giving you a chance to present your work directly to brand decision-makers-so your designs don't just sit in your portfolio!

Within each track, each of the three brands will award one Gold, Silver, and Bronze, totaling 9 core design awards, along with supporting awards for outstanding mentors and organizational participation.

03 Using CTV Colors as the Judging Standard to Create a Truly Fair Competition System

This competition uses the CTV (Colour Tone Value) method as the judging standard for Category A works, alongside ISO 12647 / ISO 20654, enhancing color control accuracy.

CTV calculates based on LAB color values obtained from spectral data, making up for the limitations of traditional gray balance and density control. This technology was developed by the Printing Technology Research Center APTEC based on the international standard ISO 20654, making it the first Bay Area standard in the domestic printing field. It can cover all kinds of printing scenarios, including offset, flexo, gravure, and digital printing.

To ensure fairness in judging across multiple topics, the competition has set up a four-layer protection mechanism:

Brand representatives participate in the initial screening of each topic to select high-quality works that fit the brand's needs;

All topics are judged according to a unified 4-dimensional scoring standard;

Each shortlisted work must receive independent scores from over 80% of the judges to be valid;

The judging committee uses a Z-score normalization consensus mechanism to eliminate differences in individual judges' scoring standards.

A judging panel of over 30 people scores entries in a double-blind process, with names and organizations kept confidential to ensure fairness and impartiality.

The review committee consists of 12 core members, including brand representatives, dual chief advisors, exhibition representatives, industry media, and association members.

The 30+ member jury comes from four main sources: university instructors, association representatives, brand representatives, and industry experts. They follow a three-step blind selection process, and all winning entries receive professional, commercial, and industry recognition.
