Stackable Packaging Solution

VPK Packaging's UK and Ireland division has launched an all-in-one stackable packaging solution made from corrugated board, designed to help customers simplify operations across supply chain, retail, and packaging scenarios.

The new corrugated packaging solution called StackIT is an alternative to the traditional two-piece 'base and lid' packaging, featuring an integrated locking structure that keeps products secure during transportation, handling, and display, while also providing retailers with practical packaging suitable for stackable shelving displays.

This solution aims to streamline unnecessary components and optimize material usage. According to the company, depending on the original packaging specifications, switching from a two-piece package to a one-piece design can reduce the amount of packaging material needed and help lower packaging weight.

VPK Packaging said this packaging is now officially in commercial use, supporting the own-brand chilled product range of a major UK supermarket chain. It demonstrates that it can meet the demands of a high-volume retail supply chain while being easy for packaging staff, logistics teams, and store operators to handle.

StackIT's design can be adapted for various products, including bags, cans, bottles, drums, tubes, and boxes. Its modular structure can be adjusted for different products, and it offers multiple options, such as collision locks, tape seals, envelope-style closures, and kidney-shaped locks.

The company added that the packaging can be customized according to the product's hardness: soft products can use a press-down assembly trigger, while hard products use a pull-up assembly trigger. This ensures product stability while keeping the assembly and usage process simple and convenient.

In related news, in April this year, Mondi announced the development of a customized corrugated packaging solution for sensors from Turkish tech company Argesim Teknoloji, helping reduce its logistics and production costs by 10%. Mondi stated that by optimizing box size, structural strength, and ergonomic design, the solution completely eliminated product damage during transport and reduced operational risks across the supply chain.

Last month, Boxmaker.Pro launched the SSG1600 compact side-seam gluer, which can meet the needs of small-batch corrugated carton production, manual gluing, and sample fabrication. Typical applications include small-batch straight side-seam processing, sample making, rework orders, special custom orders, and additional production tasks during capacity overflow.
