Photography startup SweetEscape is headquartered in Indonesia. The company recently announced that it has received $1 million in seed funding from East Ventures, Beenext, Skystar Capital and GDP Venture in 2017.


The funds were used to support the company's expansion into the Philippines, marking the company's first entry into the international market.


“Since last year, we have seen organic growth in the Philippine market and have caught up with the Indonesian market. As the second largest market in Southeast Asia, the Philippines has become the preferred target for our global expansion.” David Soong, founder and CEO of SweetEscape, Explained in an e-mail to e27.


In order to enter new markets, SweetEscape has established a local team and works with local brands as well as international brands such as Citibank. The startup also intends to expand into other Asian markets, especially looking forward to the Korean and Thai markets. Emile Etienne, founder and chief operating officer of SweetEscape, also said in a press statement that the company will continue to invest more in product development.


Founded in 2016, this startup provides customers with an application-based booking platform that allows travelers to book free photography at their destination.


In addition to vacation photography, SweetEscape provides photography for pre-wedding or home photography.


In addition to connecting freelance photographers and potential customers, the platform also allows customers to download edited photos through their mobile apps or web pages, which can be downloaded in less than three days.


The startup also has a partnership with online printing services company Printerous.


“Our goal is to be a global company. At the beginning, we only had Indonesian customers. Now, 45% of our customers are international customers from Asia and the US,” explains David Soong, founder and CEO of SweetEscape. .


The startup claims to have more than 2,000 photographers in more than 100 countries, with customers all over the world and millions.
