According to German printing media reported on August 7, with the increase in sales and profits, Heidelberg Printing Press began the business year of 2018/2019. In the first quarter (April 1 to June 30), orders revenue increased by 6% to 665 million euros. In particular, the “life cycle business”, that is, the inventory of services and consumables increased by 18% to 714 million euros (last year: 603 million euros). In addition, according to Heidelberg, the first quarter of the subscription contract has reached the first income, which should generate return sales within the usual five-year period.
Heidelberg Printing Company is at the headquarters of Wiesloch.
However, in terms of traditional business, Heidelberg started to grow at the beginning of each quarter. Despite the currency liabilities, total sales increased by 9% to 541 million euros. At a comparable exchange rate, earnings increased by approximately 11%.
Compared with the same period of last year (last year: 14 million euros), the profit before tax depreciation and amortization without restructuring income increased by 20 million euros; therefore, the profit before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization increased from 2.8% to 3.7%. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization without restructuring income decreased by €2 million (last year – €3 million) in the weakest quarter of traditional sales, despite the additional increase in personnel costs resulting from the new wage agreement. As stated in the notice, Heidelberg continues to work to reduce financing costs to less than 20 million in the medium term. Including income and income tax, the after-tax income was slightly improved by -15 million euros compared with the previous year - 16 million euros. Sales for the next business year of 2018/2019 are expected to increase moderately.
