Canon's first VarioPRINT IX3200 in the publishing and printing industry landed at Jiexun Jiacai, promoting on-demand printing with 'print from a single copy'

On September 8, 2026, Canon (China) Co., Ltd., together with the Beijing Printing Association and Beijing Jiexun Jiacai Printing Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Beijing Jiexun Jiacai"), successfully held a Canon varioPRINT iX3200 Jiexun Jiacai on-site visit and printing industry seminar themed "New Chapter of Digital Intelligence in Literature · Exploring Changes in High-End Color Printing for Publishing." Participants visited the Beijing Jiexun Jiacai factory workshop to observe the on-demand production process of "print on the spot, print from one copy," check the operation and output quality of the equipment, and gain in-depth understanding of a "benchmark factory for on-demand printing." As Canon's first varioPRINT iX3200 single-sheet inkjet printer officially put into production in China's publishing industry (hereinafter referred to as "iX3200"), its introduction provides crucial technical validation for the on-demand printing transformation of the national publishing industry. The on-site visit at Jiexun Jiacai focused on representatives from publishing and printing companies in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, showcasing the equipment's application value and technical advantages in on-demand production through real production scenarios, offering a practical reference for regional publishing and printing companies' digital transformation.

Breaking Through in Both Quality and Efficiency: Canon varioPRINT iX3200

Leveraging Core Technology to Set the Standard for Quality in Publishing Printing

According to data from the National Press and Publication Administration, by 2025, the output value of printed publications in China will account for 8.9% of the total printing output value, down from 13.8% in 2021. While demand for traditional large-scale printing continues to shrink, digital printing is steadily expanding. There are now 7,423 digital printing companies nationwide, both full-time and part-time, a year-on-year increase of 23%*2. Market demand is shifting from 'large-scale, standardized' to 'small-scale, diverse, fast delivery.' The publishing printing industry is no longer satisfied with just 'printing it out'; now it's about 'printing it finely, quickly, and reliably.' Beijing Jiexun Jiacai, which has been deeply involved in the publishing printing field for over 20 years, feels this trend especially strongly. Facing the market reality of more varieties, lower print volumes per item, pressure on pricing, and rising quality demands, the limitations of traditional production methods are becoming increasingly apparent. To address this, Beijing Jiexun Jiacai introduced the Canon iX3200 in June 2026, further enhancing its production capabilities for high-quality water-based inkjet printing on coated paper and other substrates.

Attendees got a close-up look at the Canon varioPRINT iX3200 production process and saw firsthand how the equipment performs in on-demand printing scenarios.

The Canon iX3200 uses on-demand piezoelectric inkjet technology, delivering high-resolution printing at 1200×1200 dpi. It can print double-sided at speeds up to 320 A4 pages per minute, with a monthly output ranging from 1 million to 10 million A4 pages. The printer supports 60–350gsm uncoated paper and 90–350gsm coated paper, maintaining consistent quality across different media. Thanks to its multi-level variable droplet control technology and advanced color management, it ensures sharp text edges, rich image details, and accurate color reproduction-quality comparable to offset printing, but with much more flexibility. The device is now fully operational in production, with a monthly output of 1 million A3 pages, mainly handling publication printing. In actual production, the Canon iX3200 has significantly improved delivery efficiency and overall capacity, helping Beijing Jiexun Jiacai stay competitive in a market that demands high quality at low cost.

From 'stocking up' to 'printing on demand,' on-demand printing has accelerated the digital transformation in the publishing industry.

The publishing and printing industry has long faced multiple challenges: an increasing variety of products and declining print runs for individual items. Market demands are increasingly fragmented and personalized, and traditional large-scale, long-cycle production models struggle to respond quickly to changes at the end market. The common dilemma of 'printing too much and not selling, printing too little and being late' persists. Beijing Jiexun Jiacai, being at the front line of the industry, feels this deeply: small batch, multi-variety orders are continuously increasing, labor costs are under constant pressure, and clients' demands for print quality are only rising. Companies face unprecedented pressures to balance quality, efficiency, and cost.

The Canon iX3200, with its flexible 'print-from-one-book' capability, turns the concept of on-demand production into reality. Equipped with the PRISMAsync controller and automated workflows, this device helps publishing and printing companies flexibly allocate production capacity and improve order response efficiency, making print quantities closer to actual demand and effectively reducing overprinting and inventory buildup. With intelligent automatic configuration, the iX3200 can easily handle postcards, photo books, albums, magazines, and books, offering publishing companies a feasible solution with 'offset-quality, near-traditional cost,' truly achieving flexible production with 'one machine adapts, responds as needed.' For Beijing Jiexun Jiacai, the excellent print quality of the Canon iX3200, its flexible on-demand production capability, outstanding technical architecture, and the professional support shown by the Canon team during the project were key factors in the final decision. Especially, the actual performance after production confirmed this choice: the Canon iX3200 has helped Beijing Jiexun Jiacai find a new balance in a market environment of low labor cost and high quality.
