Hyundai and USTC Join Forces to Build a Green Future for Paper Packaging

On January 9th, Shengtai and the University of Science and Technology of China formed a strong alliance and held a grand project proposal review meeting for five postdoctoral researchers in the Shengtai headquarters conference room. This marks a new phase in their deep integration of industry, academia, and research. This collaboration focuses on cutting-edge topics in the paper packaging industry, aiming to address industry pain points and lead a new trend in sustainable development through deep industry-academia-research integration.

news-1-1

This collaboration between Shenda and five PhD researchers from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) is precisely focused on green innovation in the paper packaging industry, covering three core areas:

01

**Development of Eco-friendly Materials**

Dedicated to designing multifunctional materials for efficiently treating industrial wastewater and exploring the use of fat oxidation technology to produce green raw materials, thereby promoting the practical application and implementation of biodegradable packaging materials.

02

**High-performance Paper-based Applications**

Focused on optimizing various properties of paper-based materials to better suit high-end home furnishings, cultural exhibition halls, and applications such as alcoholic beverages and cigarettes that require high-barrier performance.

03

**Zero-carbon Production Pathways**

By conducting a full lifecycle assessment of paper packaging, systematically exploring technical and management solutions for factories to achieve zero-carbon transformation, aiming to achieve the best balance between environmental protection and economic benefits.

Sun Junjun, Executive Vice President and Director of the Research Institute, presided over the project kickoff ceremony and delivered an enthusiastic speech. He emphasized that Shenda has always regarded technological innovation as its core driving force, and this collaboration with USTC is a key step in implementing Shenda's philosophy of "Green Packaging, Smart Future." Sun Junjun stated: "We look forward to the in-depth exploration by PhD students to inject new vitality into the paper packaging industry and promote the transformation and upgrading of the entire industry toward more environmentally friendly and efficient directions."

The collaboration between Shenda and USTC is a model of deep integration of industry, academia, and research. Through the cutting-edge research of PhD students, both parties will tackle the technological bottlenecks in the paper packaging industry, promoting the development of green packaging materials, intelligent manufacturing upgrades, and sustainable practices. This collaboration not only injects innovative energy into Shenda but also provides USTC with a valuable industrial practice platform for frontier research, ultimately achieving a win-win situation through resource sharing and complementary strengths.
