How to re-interpret papermaking and printing with gunpowder as a medium? Recently, artist Cai Guoqiang performed on-site at the Art Center of Yachang (Shenzhen). On the special "ladder shelf installation", he detonated more than 300 albums of Cai Guoqiang, which were supported and printed by Yachang. This is the first time that Cai Guoqiang has exhibited his art of blasting installations in Guangdong and is one of the special art projects to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Yachang. More than 200 well-known artists and entrepreneurs from all over the country witnessed together.

The creation of the day was carried out in the outdoor theater of the Art Center. Cai Guoqiang detonated more than 300 special "ladder bookshelf devices" consisting of five Cai Guoqiang solo albums supported and printed by Yachang, including: Retrospective Exhibition of the Guggenheim Museum in New York. I want to believe" (2008) Chinese version; Shanghai Bund Art Museum solo exhibition and opening exhibition "Cai Guoqiang: Farmer Da Vinci" (2010); Zhejiang Art Museum solo exhibition "Spring" (2012); Brazil solo exhibition "Cai Guoqiang: Farmers Finch (2013); Shanghai Modern Art Museum solo exhibition "Nine Waves" (2014). As the fuse is ignited, the 25 steps that symbolize the outstanding beauty of the 25-year-old "the beauty of art" in Yachang are exploding from the bottom up at a predetermined speed. Finally, the entire bookshelf exploded at the same time, becoming the most shocking blow. After the creation is completed, the part of the blasting that was covered in the grading device showed a light color, and the exposed part was blackened, like a spiritual negative. The blasting process was made into a documentary film, and the trailing bookshelves and blasting albums after the blasting became a complete conceptual installation, which was collected by Yachang.

“This ladder bookcase represents Yachang’s achievements and my own achievements. The fire bursts through the middle steps and looks up at the top monumental bookshelves. The world’s largest art wall behind the Yachang Art Center is the history of human civilization. "The spirit of loftiness." Cai Guoqiang said that gunpowder was high-tech in ancient times, equivalent to an atomic bomb. This time, the gunpowder was hand-buried, and the control was done by computer. The speed of burning along the ladder was precisely calculated. Therefore, this blast represents the wildness and animal nature of the hand, and also the power of high technology. Wan Jie, chairman of the Yachang Culture Group, said that as a cultural and artistic enterprise rooted in Shenzhen, Yachang has won more than 800 world-class printing awards in the past 25 years and has become a cultural business card in Shenzhen. The artist Cai Guoqiang reinterpreted papermaking and printing with his unique medium gunpowder. This is another proof of the flourishing development of culture and art in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao's Dawan District during the 40 years of reform and opening up.

According to reports, Yachang will also hold a Chinese contemporary art exhibition in the fifth floor of the Art Center. The exhibition will comprehensively comb the contemporary Chinese art collection system, and select more than 40 pieces (groups) of works and audiences of 40 artists from Yachang. During the meeting, the paintings, sculptures, and installations exhibited the artist's thinking, exploration, and self-question in different eras, giving people a glimpse of the development footprint of Chinese contemporary art.
