The fountain solution of the commercial web offset press is different from the newspaper rotary printing, which is different from the lithographic offset printing. It requires dampening solution to help stabilize the balance of ink and water, less water on the ink, ensure the concentration of ink, reduce emulsification, and ensure stable printing quality and quick start of the machine even if the machine is running for a long time.


In the continuous water delivery system, the concentration ratio of the imported water bucket liquid additive is 2% - 3%, the ratio of IPA (isopropyl alcohol) is 6% - 8%, and the hardness of the solvent water used is 40 - 250DH. The pH value is controlled at 4.9-5.2 (slightly adjusted according to the hardness of water), and the conductivity is 800-1200 μs/cm. The dampening solution used should keep the ink roller without residual calcium precipitate and reduce the residue on the blanket. Ink and paper powder should be effective in preventing foam and microbes.


When the pH of the fountain solution is too low. The dampening solution will chemically react with the desiccant in the ink. Generally, the stronger the acidity of the dampening solution, the slower the drying of the ink; the higher the pH value, often caused by the excessive IPA value, which will cause the ink film layer to lose its luster. It seems that the surface of the print is boring and dull.
