With the advent of CTP, the digitalization of the printing industry is also growing faster. In such a trend, what is the trend of enterprise development? Simply speaking, there are the following eight development trends.
1. Digital connection with customers
The printing job is made into an electronic file, and all the files are transmitted through high-speed long-distance communication. In some cases it may be a T-1 or T-3 line or ISDN or any other means of communication: in other cases it may be the transfer of files over the Internet or an intranet. The documents passed include electronic work orders and self-processing files for different steps in the digital workflow process, linking customers and print services organically, a phenomenon never before seen.
2. Remote proofing
Proofing is one of the most important parts of the printing industry. It makes sense to make proofs before entering the workflow, and proofing in the customer's own office makes proofing more meaningful. The problem is how to color manage the files that are sent back to the customer. Whether it's inkjet proofing or sublimation proofing, or other types of printing, documents need to be professionally processed before they are passed to the customer, giving the file a color control. The debate with and without outlets will continue into the next century.
3. Waterless printing
The advantages of waterless printing in reducing waste and improving quality are obvious. But there are only a handful of plate suppliers, and printing is very special, which greatly limits its widespread acceptance. At present, CTP technology produces digital non-watermarked versions through several suppliers, and some printing presses are ready for the refrigeration system to wait for waterless printing access. Waterless printing uses only one liquid-ink, and no fountain solution is used. The demand for this new printing method is increasing in the market.
Random screening - and no use of film. CTP system makes FM screening easier, the FM screening era is coming. Using the CTP system can make the work better, and its market share is getting bigger and bigger. In 1992, FM sites just appeared, and almost no users used such outlets. And now the interest in it has restarted.
4. CTP technology

5. Digital to network to print
Pixels to page to product. Process control is always automatic, from digital pages to the final product. Consider using internal bar code for tracking, you can know the progress of all aspects of the current state from the beginning of a job. If CIP3 is an open, non-private method, it is an acceptable method. Otherwise, the market has to find a better way.
6. Technology integration
Putting an inkjet system into the press is an example of technology integration. One of the best examples of system integration that I have heard recently is the color printing service offered by Indigo and Xeikon presses. First, a large number of sheets were printed using a Xeikon printer, and then black ink was printed on the Indigo machine to make the prints more distinctive. The integration of offset presses and inkjet printers is a better result of print reproduction.
It is possible to output a digital file multiple times from a file-application file and a file between RIP files to any proofing or printing device. Acrobat PDF is the most promising way to move files from the device that generated the file to the device that copied the file, eliminating the incompetence of PostScript and speeding up the workflow.
7. Variable data printing
Whether using toner or inkjet, electronic printing is rapidly evolving, just as some new mid-range digital color printing systems are entering the market. In less than a year, sales of the Xerox Docucolor system and the Cannon CLC1000 system have exceeded all sales of high-end digital presses. They have the ability to output direct mail and custom products, and the typical application is a new type of security printing.
8. Digital advertising
Whether in TIFF/IT or PDF format, advertisements will be inserted into newspapers and magazines as electronic files, as these publications will be exported by CTP. The biggest news mentioned here is that "placed PDF" will allow these smart files to be inserted directly into the QuarkPress or PageMaker page, which can include text, images, colors, fonts and other information.
