Can refer to the following table:

Select three according to the working color gamut setting of Photoshop6 now, but retain the original CMYK value of the image, so no conversion, with the current working color gamut as the standard

Select two according to the working color gamut setting of Photoshop6 now, but retain the original LAB value of the image, thus making the conversion

Select a completely preserved image original color gamut, LAB and CMYK values are unchanged

Keep in mind that this is just an example, and each situation should make a different choice. If the image you open does not have an Embed ICC Profile, Photoshop will ask more questions. Be aware that every choice has the same opportunity to change the color, so users should be aware of the effects of different choices. If you have any questions, you should consult with a color management consultant.

In the Conversion Option, the Engine selects a different CMM. Basically, Adobe (ACE) is good, and the Heidel beg CMM is also very good. The effect of the two is not big, and the user should choose it. Intent should choose Perceptual, and Use Black Point Compensation should not be chosen.

When we set all the options in Color Settings, we can save the entire set of settings. This way you can choose in Settings, it's convenient, it's better than Photoshop5.

In addition to these settings users need to understand, Photoshop6 is the biggest difference compared to Photoshop5..X, Photoshop5.X all image colors should be set according to Color Setting, so all RGB images of RGB Working Space are the same, and so The CMYK Working Space for all CMYK images is the same. However, Photoshop 6 has made a big progress. The working space of each image can be different. The settings in Color Settings are just a basic bottom line. Each image can also have a separate Working Space.

So now in Photoshop 6, even if there are multiple images of the same color mode, such as multiple CMYK images, each one can have its own CMYK Working Space, and we can also view the ICC profile of the Working Space for each image.

In addition, unlike Photoshop5..X, we can freely use the ICC Profile in the Image Mode menu, Assign, and when saving images, you can choose whether to embed the Working Space ICC Profile of the image into the file. In the View menu, the new Proof Setup allows the user to preview the effect of the Working Space color in other different process/printer simulations. Simulate Paper White also allows users to preview the White Point (mostly paper white) in the ICC Profile set by Working Space and add it to the bottom color to make the preview more accurate.

Summary

To know that in an idealized ICC workflow, when we know the source of the image ICC Profile, and the destination ICC Profile, we can accurately reproduce the color. But beyond that, what's more important is the user's understanding of color management. The above is just the most basic setting of color management in Photoshop6. To use it well, a thorough understanding is very important, otherwise different processes may be unprepared for users. The Graphic Arts Test Center or your color management consultant will be able to provide relevant training to help you master the tricks of color management!
