Recently, the printing industry began to print with non-paper substrates, which showed special printing effects. This is a special printing set in special circumstances. There are many types of special printing, mainly in the following categories:
1. ultraviolet (UV) printing
This is a printing method in which the ink is dried by ultraviolet irradiation, and the ink used is an ultraviolet drying ink. Once the ink is irradiated with ultraviolet light, it can be hardened in an instant, and the strength of the ink film is large. Therefore, for printing such as paper packaging equipment using inexpensive thick paper paste lining, synthetic paper having non-ink absorbing property needs fast drying printing, plastic. Printing, business form printing, and printing processes requiring a harder metal film such as ink film are more suitable. The disadvantage is that the special solvent in the UV ink will swell the printing plate and the roller. Therefore, special equipment must be used. Ink prices are expensive and poorly preserved, which is also a disadvantage.
2. spice printing
Most of this type of printing is used in cosmetic advertising because adding a suitable fragrance to the pattern increases the added value of the print. This fragrance ink is made by directly mixing the fragrance in the ink. The appearance is similar to that of the ordinary ink, but its cheap aroma effect lasts for a long time. The fragrance of the ink is encapsulated and mixed therein by microcapsules, and when the printed matter is used, the microcapsules are broken by hand or other forms to cause the fragrance to slowly overflow and emit a fragrance.
3. Fluorescence and light storage printing
After the ink absorbs ultraviolet light, it receives visible light and causes a change in wavelength to reflect fluorescence. Printing with such ink is called fluorescent printing. After the ink is exposed to light, the light can be stored in a dark place, and printing with the ink is called light storage printing. The visual effects of these two printed products are better. Therefore, the posters of the posters and the cover of the river are printed.
However, fluorescent pigments and light-storing pigments are expensive, and their inks have poor printability. To increase color effects and visual effects, it is necessary to thicken the ink layer. In general, such inks have poor lightfastness and care must be taken in the environmental aspects of using such prints. In addition, in order to further improve the visual effect of the printed matter, it is necessary to use pearlescent ink (pearl ink) for pearl printing.
4. uplift printing
The printing process is mainly used for printing such as Braille embossing, and the printed pattern is all or partially raised, and has visual effects and sensation effects. When printing, a foaming agent which causes the printing pattern to be convex is used. After heating, the foaming agent is expanded to make the pattern convex (foaming printing), and the resin powder may be sprinkled on the printed pattern portion, and then It is heated and melted, and after it is adhered to the pattern, it is cooled and solidified to form a relief, and a stamp is formed on the back surface of the printed matter to form a relief.
In general, foam printing and stamper printing are inexpensive, but the amount of pattern protrusion is small, and the durability is low. Although the resin powder printing process can overcome the above disadvantages, the process is complicated and expensive. The appropriate method should be selected according to the purpose of use.
5. OCR (optical character recognition device), OMR (optical identification device) printing
Recently, it has begun to process bills such as transfer cheques and subpoenas through computer Oikawa OCR and OMR. When using these devices, there are two ways of plain text recognition and printed text recognition. The written lines are usually printed with normal ink. However, there is a misunderstanding when reading, but a person can recognize the printing method by the ink (printing ink) that the device cannot recognize. Since the color that can be used is limited to the sensitive area of the OCR device used, the choice of color is highly valued. In addition, due to the color change of the printing day printing ink, the printing paper is dirty and can cause misunderstanding, and it is necessary to strengthen management.
6. high-definition, magnetic screen printing
In the existing lithographic dot resolution, which increases the resolution to more than 300L based on 175L, it is called high-definition printing. Magnetic screen printing is to design the dots into very fine regular dots without any size. The reduction of the hue is achieved by the increase or decrease of the number of such dots.
Since the digital reduction capability of the fine portion of the tip point in the high-definition printing is enhanced, the phenomenon of the regularity of the overlapping of the dots of the respective colors does not occur, thereby eliminating the trouble of correction. High-precision magnetic screen printing achieves the same effect as expected, but due to the extremely small dot size, the technical requirements for the plate-making process are extremely high.
7. high sensitivity printing (6-7 colors)
Usually, printing is performed by three primary colors (magenta, cyan, yellow) plus black for the subtractive four-color printing process. Green is added with cyan and yellow superimposed. However, in actual printing, since the ink (such as cyan) printed first is not dried, the next color (such as yellow) is superimposed on it, so that the ink cannot Completely transferred to the bottom color (defective superposition), making it difficult to restore vivid green.
In addition, in order to expand the color reduction range, three colors of red, green, and blue are added to the four-color printing process to become seven-color printing. In addition, on the basis of the four-color printing process, two colors of orange and green are printed to become six-color printing. Care must be taken when carrying out this printing process, and the dot status of each color must be carefully selected. It is especially important to carefully analyze the 6-7 colors to select the dot state to avoid the occurrence of moiré (such as magnetic screens).
In addition, high-density inks are used to extend the high-density printing of the dot-tone range, and ultra-light-resistant printing using ultra-light-resistant inks and ultraviolet-absorbing inks is required in consideration of the need for super-light resistance in prints for outdoor use. There are also recently used non-wood papers to consider environmental issues, so that inks made from soybean oil (soybean inks, all kinds of printing, all of these special printings require different levels of chemical technology and skill level. It is necessary to understand the characteristics and effects of various special printings, the added value of printed matter, the difference in cost, the difference in pattern quality, etc. to make the correct choice.
