In fact, the scent printing method is not difficult to understand, mainly in the ink, that is, using a special fragrance ink to print. A fragrance ink is actually a microcapsule ink which is added to a microcapsule carrier by adding various raw materials of different odors to form an ink of various odors. The fragrance of the fragrance ink can be directly added to the ink, printed by letterpress or lithographic printing, or microcapsules, then infiltrated into the ink and screen printed. The composition and principle of odor ink
The ink used for the fragrance printing is composed of a fragrance capsule, a binder, a pigment, and other additives. The flavor capsule is based on the principle of emulsification, and the perfume core material as the oil phase is dispersed in the aqueous phase of the hydrophilic natural or synthetic polymer resin, such as gelatin, gum arabic, polyvinyl alcohol and the like. After the whole system is dispersed by stirring, by changing the temperature and changing the pH value or adding a salt and a second polymer such as formaldehyde or alum, a polymerization reaction occurs at the interface between the water phase and the oil phase, and the shell material is precipitated and dispersed. The perfume is wrapped in a film, which is gelled to form a capsule, and finally a microcapsule containing the fragrance is obtained. The scent microcapsules have a diameter of 10 μm to 30 μm and a wall thickness of about 1 μm.
It is worth noting that since the scent microcapsules are very small, a diameter of 10 μm to 30 μm ensures that the amount of contact and inhalation is minimal when rubbed by hand, and does not cause irritation to the skin and respiratory tract.
Selection of odor printing ink
The premise of printing with scent printing inks is that the printed image must have a relatively heavy hue and a large area of the printed image, so that the surface of the paper is printed with microcapsules sufficient for the scent effect. Because the aroma concentration of the scent print depends on how many scented microcapsules are printed on the print.
A better and more effective method is to apply a layer of scented microcapsule oily polish to the surface of the print. A commonly used method is to apply a glazing coating to a printed image by a printing unit. In the coating process, one must ensure sufficient coating amount, and must also have good dusting measures. Otherwise, there will be faults such as smudging and adhesion caused by wet pressing in general oil glazing. . The amount of the aroma coating applied to the paper print can be easily checked by visual inspection, and the judgment can be made by carefully checking the smoothness and appearance gloss of the varnish coating.
One of the prerequisites for odor printing is that the ink supplier must provide a range of additional services. First of all, the ink supplier has a wealth of practical experience in the printing process, can specify a fragrance oil supplier, responsible for the microencapsulation of the flavor oil, and the microcapsules mixed into the printing ink, polish or dispersion coating; Second, ink suppliers are also required to understand and be responsible for adjusting the ink viscosity to suit the printing system used. In addition, after the above work is completed, proofing verification must also be performed on the press.
In fact, not every scented oil and every scent is suitable for making microcapsules, such as leather, chocolate or coffee, which is difficult to replicate. Suppliers of fragrance inks must perform the fragrance microencapsulation test at the design stage of the fragrance printing. In the scent printing, in addition to the preliminary test on the printing machine for testing, it is necessary to carry out the field proofing on the printing machine to be scented. Otherwise, if the actual printing production is put into production, if the printing effect does not meet the expected requirements, Caused significant losses.
The taste of the paper printing ink itself affects the scent printing effect. Therefore, when printing a fragrance, you should use an ink with a small taste and test the paper and ink. In addition, the additives in the printing ink change the desired aroma of the print due to volatilization, so care must be taken when printing the fragrance.
Screen printing is usually used
Screen printing is used to avoid damage to the capsules in the fragrance ink, and because the screen printing ink film thickness is about 20 times higher than offset printing, which facilitates long-term retention of the fragrance, but has recently been developed for offset printing. Special ink. For example, a general offset printing machine can be used. That is, the five-color machine or the six-color machine prints CMYK and other colors at a time with the base map and the portion with the scented ink. At this time, special attention should be paid to not damaging the capsules in the fragrance ink.
The scent screen printing pressure should not be too large, and the appropriate pressure can be found by trial printing. In the trial printing process, in addition to paying attention to whether the ink on the plate surface is even after the scraper is scraped, it is also necessary to observe whether the microcapsules are broken or not.
The drying temperature of the scent screen printing ink should not be too high, otherwise the microcapsules will rupture and cannot be dried by ultraviolet rays. The preferred drying method is volatilization drying. Increasing the drying temperature and increasing the air flow rate can increase the drying speed of the ink layer.
