In view of the current world trends and the use of digital proofing manufacturers, the digital proofing technology is quite mature. Basically, this technology is built on the digital network. In the current practical situation, this trend is a foreseeable future.

First, the development trend of remote printing technology

(1) One input Many out- put application

With the development of cross-platform and cross-media file formats such as XML and PDF, it is very helpful for the use of communication processes and automatic production. In combination with the concept of Database, a single input file (Man input) and application of the output (Many output), in addition to print output, other web pages, CD electronic media can use these files.

(2) Internet application and color management technology

The rapid and convenient network transmission and advancement of file compression technology, as well as the application of color management technology, will enable the network-based printing, which is currently only used as a small file, to gradually become a far-reaching proofing and remotely-distributed printing. (Figure 2)

(3) In the future, the printing industry has the opportunity to act as an integrator in the multimedia digital world, using the professional advantages of the printing industry to transform from the original Prepress to Premedia.

(4) The future printing industry will become an information carrier service provider, media solution provider, and multimedia digital world integrator (integrated digital content data → digital content industry).

(5) From printing to information integration, including information application, digital graphic integration, and long-term development trends such as document management, database applications, security mechanisms, electronic invoice bills, digital asset management, digital content publishing.

There are several important points in the development of remote printing technology. The core technology is color management technology, PDF process, Hybrid network and color standardization concept. These key factors will be the factors that require special attention when developing long-distance printing.

Second, ICC Profile color management system

(1) In order to solve the incompatibility between various color management system manufacturers, several computer and peripheral equipment manufacturers established the ICC-International Color Consortium International Color Alliance in 1993, and established a standard format for color characterization files. ICC Standard Specification.

(2) ICC defines the color profile of each device to support the establishment of the color characteristics of each device, that is, after the input device, the display device, and the output device are processed by a standardized standard program, a so-called color profile is generated. (ICC Profile) and embed image files, including PICT, EPS, TIFF, and JFIF image files, and then link the color profiles of different devices to each other through different color space conversion modes.

(3) On the work platform of PC PC/Windows 4.0/NT4.0 or above, ICM 2.0 file format (Image Color Management) is used to support the storage and application of ICC Profile.

(4) On the Apple Macintosh operating platform, the file format of Color Sync 2.5 is used to support the ICC Profile.

(5) The ICC Profile is used to serially convert the color space between different devices, and provides a set of profile standards that various manufacturers can follow. It has become the standard (Standard Standards) recognized by the industry. In the future, as long as the profiles of various devices meet the ICC standards, color management software can be used to achieve the goal of maintaining color consistency.

Third, color quality control technology

It is mainly divided into two parts, one for color management of general printed matter and the other for color quality control in digital files. Firstly, the control of general printed matter is introduced. The basic printing is the problem of output regulation. The common control methods include register control analysis, full-scale concentration control, dot gain control and gray balance control.

The other is the ICC Profile color description file quality evaluation. When we input an image file into the computer, the profile data generated on the computer is correct. It can be added to the image using the created description file. When it is added, it will be Significant change. The Informatics Center also develops compatible ICC Profile software technology, which can be used to evaluate the color space is not correct, the profile used in the inspection is not normal, and the manufacturer can also contact the Printing and Research Center if necessary.

Next, we must remind everyone of the key points to be aware of when making color quality control:

(1) The selection of digital proofing systems on the market should be based on accuracy and stability; if it does not meet these two requirements, then it is not a reliable digital proofing system.

(2) The main factors affecting the digital proofing system are: inkjet speed, operating cost and color management.

(3) Printing speed: In terms of speed, a high-resolution pair of proofs can be found in the market within 10 minutes.

(4) Operating costs: mainly depends on the price of ink and special paper for proofing.

(5) Color management: Depending on the accuracy and stability, it is also the most important factor. Even if the speed is fast, the cost is low. If the printing effect cannot be accurately and stably previewed, it may lead to more in the latter stage of printing. Great economic and time loss.

(6) Digital proofing color evaluation:

1. The methods generally used to evaluate color are:

(1) Visual Method - Subjective Evaluation (Color Management)

(2) Measurement method - objective evaluation (Device Calibration)

2. The focus of color assessment:

(1) Single color block - Single Color Stimuli

(2) Measurement method - Test target test guide

(3) Complex Image - Complex Color Image

(4) Visual Method - Standard Test Image Standard Samples

3. Comparison of color assessment

Type subjective evaluation objective evaluation

Method visual method

Tool Test Image Standard Image Test target Test Guide

Use color conversion equipment correction

(7) Chromatic aberration

Finally, when we talk about color control, there is a concept that cannot be ignored, because in the end, regardless of the manufacturer, customer, or printer, in order to maintain the color consistency of what is seen last, it is necessary to pay attention to the problem of chromatic aberration.

1. Definition of Color Difference: refers to the difference in the color of the eye when comparing two color objects, referred to as ΔE.

2. Generally referred to as ΔE is the color difference formula of CIELAB uniform color space established by CIE in 1976.

ΔE=[(L1-L2)2+(a1-a2)2+(b1-b2)2]1/2

3. Generally speaking

(1) Delta E > 6: Unacceptable, human eye vision is easy to recognize the color difference.

(2) Delta E < 4: Acceptable, human eye vision can recognize the color difference, but it is not very obvious.

(3) Delta E < 2: Human eye vision can hardly recognize the color difference.
