At present, the polyester version is still mostly printed in black and white, but after the printing quality is improved and the number of lines is increased, the polyester version will be suitable for printing colored prints, which helps to find a niche in the small color printing market. . The polyester CTP version is widely used in monochrome or two-color prints, such as invitations, greeting cards, business cards, forms or letterheads, and has become a low-cost solution for commercial printing and fast printing.
Economic choice
The polyester version saves time and costs because it does not require the use of a film. It can be more economical when printing lines, special colors or color prints, so a polyester version can be considered for small prints. In the ten years of development, the polyester version was first used for printing on bills, and of course commercial forms and documents.
The polyester version usually reminds people of low-quality, two-color, low-quality prints, and now the polyester version can achieve 25,000 prints and 175 lines of resolution. When these prints are printed 175 People will be surprised by the quality of the line prints, because advances in CTP equipment will allow printers to print higher quality prints that are not only of the same quality but at a lower cost than metal.
Size advantage
The supplier said that more than half of the polyester version is a dual-mode version (about B4) for small presses or copiers, and the rest is a four-mode (B3) size version, a small part. The copy is an eight-mode (B2) version for printing.
Although the polyester version can be made from a plateetter, most of it is done using a imagesetter. In fact, from the industry survey (Note: USA), 13% of people with negative film output machines have used the output machine to make polyester and paper versions before listening to CTP.
Although there are more negative film output machines on the market than the plate output machines, the negative film output machine was originally designed for the negative film. When used in the printing plate, there is a disadvantage that it cannot be cut or positioned. Some of the new negative film output machines in recent years have been built with the function of processing plates, which is another good choice for using the polyester version.
Plate and film
Agfa has designed the Avantra series of film output machines to be used in both plate and film formats, allowing customers to have CTP capabilities without adding new equipment, with a film in one of the output machines and another film. In the middle of the plate, the negative or the plate will automatically adjust the laser focal length according to the thickness, which is a dual-purpose output machine.
Polyester plates are available in a variety of sensitivities, usually in accordance with the different laser types used on the output, the most common being infrared and red lasers.
In addition, the printing plate also has a variety of different thicknesses. Generally speaking, the larger the area, the thicker it is to keep the plate stable and will not be elongated and deformed when it is on the machine.
The polyester CTP version currently has only two on the market, and some plate exporter suppliers will provide their own branded plates; Kodak said they have developed a polyester version of the technology, but it has not been used in the production of the product.
Last year (1998), the global polyester version sold for 163 million British 2 (2/3 of which is analog-made) and the aluminum version of more than 700 million British 2 accounted for about 16%.

Plus polyester version, the new plate provides a larger print range and is suitable for a wide variety of prints, such as black and white, special color or color prints, and allows for faster preparation before printing.
At present, Setprint Plus polyester version can resist printing to 20,000 brushes, and the performance of outlets can range from 5% to 95%, resolution to 150 lines, and can print accounting documents, business communications, advertisements or promotional brochures.
The Setprint Plus version is available in four thicknesses of 10, 12, 20, and 30 mils. The 12 mils version is suitable for large prints and is easier to handle and does not require additional padding. It can be used on red lasers, red diode lasers and xenon lasers, and the version can be used as long as the standard fast plate processor is used.
New emulsion technology
Mitsubishi DigiPlate can provide more choices when printing, can apply more different inks and sinks, and the plate's sensitivity is divided into two types: laser (633nm) and red laser (670nm), and the whole is complete. The product line will cover all the spectra used in the output, including 488nm, 633 to 680nm and 780nm.
The plate has a print capacity of up to 25,000 brushes and a resolution of 175 lines, while the material on the back layer of the plate prevents light from penetrating and increases the ability to handle in the bright room.
