What is the evaluation of the anilox roll? The traditional definition refers to the comprehensive inspection of the anilox roller line number, cell volume and cell structure by an experienced technician using complex and expensive inspection equipment, and writes a test report, including a photomicrograph or a A digital representation of the digitally processed cavity outline. The report includes many numbers and charts, but there is very little real useful information.
Although it is helpful for the operator to understand the cell volume of the anilox roll, are you satisfied that only the anilox roll has been worn or damaged after inspection? Do you prefer to know the cause of the damage to the anilox roller and the way to prevent damage? The anilox roller is the heart of the flexo press and is also the focus of attention. The traditional inspection cannot tell the operator why the anilox roller is damaged, and it is not recommended to improve the printing quality. So you should ask yourself: What do you want from the evaluation of the anilox roll.
The subject of the assessment
The evaluation of the anilox roll during the printing process is more effective than the occasional anilox roll inspection. Proper assessments include the rigorous evaluation of the entire process of storage, cleaning, use and working conditions of the anilox roll, providing a range of solutions to improve printing and prevent process failure. The view that the evaluation of the anilox roller should be done by an outsider (the technician sent by the anilox roller manufacturer) is wrong. In fact, the evaluation of anilox rolls is an important part of improving print quality. Obviously, it is unreasonable for technicians sent by anilox roller manufacturers to perform anilox roll evaluation in the printing shop for several weeks. The properly trained printer operator can fully use the anilox roller in daily work. The status is monitored.
Assessment tool
1. Specially designed inspection area
A highly suitable fixed table should be prepared for the operator, ideal if it is close to the cleaning unit.
2. Mount for supporting the anilox roller journal
The frame can support the anilox roller so that its surface does not come into contact with the table top, and it is also beneficial to carry out a comprehensive and safe inspection of the surface of the anilox roll. The frame should be fitted with bearings to allow the anilox roller journal to rotate therein. In addition, a grooved wooden bracket can also be used to support the anilox roller journal. However, when using a wooden bracket, it is best to fix it on a base that is heavy and bulky to prevent the wooden bracket from accidentally falling over.
3. Good lighting
Good lighting is extremely important in the evaluation of anilox rolls, but it is often overlooked. In many printing shops, the so-called good lighting is to install a few more fluorescent lights above the inspection area. It is good practice to draw an area separately and illuminate it with a light source that is comparable to the lighting conditions in the inspection area to perform a comparative inspection of the sheets.
Other tools to be prepared are gear tweezers, 100x optical magnifier, tape measure, marking label (for marking damaged areas), shrinkable scraper (drying for scraping the end of anilox roll) and medium coarse teeth锉 (used to remove burrs on the keyway). The wear of the journal and bearing surfaces is measured using a micrometer of a ten thousandth of an inch. If the anilox roller journal has a threaded stop, it is best to purchase a set of thread inspection tools (for checking the journal threaded portion).
In addition, a set of number die and hammer is required to mark the anilox roll. Most of the anilox rolls have been printed by the manufacturer at the factory, but after repeated cleaning of the anilox rolls, the numbers and numbers will become blurred. In particular, if a side scraper is used, the end surface of the anilox roll may be excessively worn, and the number of the original number and the number of screen lines may be blurred. Therefore, the anilox roller needs to be reprinted after a period of use to ensure that important information is clearly visible.
It is also important to distinguish the anilox roller by the serial number and the number of screen lines recorded in the record book. Any damage or flaws on the surface of the anilox roll should be recorded in the record book and clearly marked for damage and damage. The contents recorded in the record book enable the operator to quickly understand the condition of the anilox roller and know which anilox roller needs to be prioritized. If the record reflects that more than one net group roll has the same type of damage, it should cause the operator to be vigilant and should investigate the cause of the damage to the anilox roll.
