When it comes to the problems in the processing of micro corrugated boxes, we generally think of the conventional problems of poor pressure resistance and breakage resistance, poor die cutting, and glue opening of the paste box. In fact, these problems are relatively simple, so we only need to target them. It can be solved by processing it. However, the problem of elongation of semi-finished products in the production process of micro corrugated boxes and the corresponding shrinkage of finished products are comprehensive, and it is relatively difficult to solve.
Here, the author combines the experience of micro corrugated carton processing for many years, summarizes the causes and solutions of these problems, and shares with colleagues.
01. semi-finished product elongation problem and solution
1. Reason for elongation
Miniature corrugated cartons (especially micro corrugated cartons for food, electronics, pharmaceuticals, etc.) are usually produced by arranging multiple products. However, in the pre-press design of the micro corrugated carton, the customer usually requires the design of the boundary of each side of the carton and accurately processes them according to these boundaries during post-press processing. This is commonly known as the “dead color position” in the industry (below) Referred to as "card position").

If the production according to the original document's cut-line drawing is not feasible, and if the elongation of the micro-corrugated carton semi-finished product in the production process is not well handled, it is difficult to ensure accurate card position and high yield.
The digital markings are where the semi-finished products of the micro corrugated carton are more prone to elongation problems. Among them, it is easy to cut the text at the 1st mark, and it is easy to produce the phenomenon that the bleeding is not enough and the whiteness is marked at 2 places. It is easy to super-line or can not suppress the color edge when marking 3 or 4, when these processing problems appear on the same printed sheet at the same time, how to It is especially important to get better control.
But it is even more difficult that the semi-finished products of similar or identical micro-corrugated cartons have different elongations when they are produced at different times, so there is no rule at all. The main reasons for the elongation of the micro corrugated cardboard semi-finished products are as follows.
(1) Since the materials, manufacturers and brands of corrugated paper are not fixed, the performance of corrugated paper is also unstable, which leads to deformation of corrugated paper.
(2) The pressure of the creping process and the thickness of the pressure-bearing belt cannot be standardized.
(3) The lack of incoming materials monitoring measures for crepe paper adhesives, mainly flow rate, solid content and other properties.
(4) The stacking code of micro corrugated cardboard after crepe paper is not standardized, and the storage environment is poor.
(5) The connection time of the mini corrugated carton production process is not properly controlled.
2. Control method
For the above reasons, the author summarizes the following control methods.
(1) Establish incoming inspection standards. Standardize the moisture, deformation degree, height, and slanting of corrugated paper; establish relevant standards and test the properties of the flow rate and solid content of the crepe paper adhesive.
(2) Moisture monitoring of the micro corrugated cardboard after crepe paper, and setting the standard water content.
(3) Specification stacking code. The surface of the micro corrugated cardboard that has just been finished is relatively flat, and it should not be placed in an environment with large changes in temperature and humidity to avoid a large amount of deformation.
(4) For the micro corrugated carton with strict card position, it is necessary to set the connection time of the process, and ensure that the production and processing can be carried out strictly according to this time.
(5) Write all the precautions and operating standards in the production process of the micro corrugated carton into an operational process.
Strictly implementing the above several control methods, the elongation of the semi-finished products of the micro corrugated carton will be effectively controlled, and the carton processing enterprise will be provided with a controllable standard, and the elongation will also be used as a reference value for production guidance. The same product produced at different times can also be better controlled.
02. finished product size shrinkage problem and solution
Customers will also encounter shrinkage problems in the mini corrugated carton. Under normal circumstances, the finished corrugated paper box will be reduced in size after being placed for a period of time, and as the moisture of the micro corrugated box is continuously volatilized, the finished product size will continue to shrink until the water content is reduced to 5%-8. At %, the finished product size is no longer reduced, but it is not feasible to maintain a water content of 5% to 8% during the production of the micro corrugated carton.
For some micro corrugated cartons used in automatic packaging production lines, especially some micro corrugated cartons with inner trays, and micro corrugated cartons with small gaps in the interior, the 0.5mm dimensional deviation generally affects the efficiency of the automatic packaging line. However, more than 1mm will affect the placement of the inner support, so the customer has very high requirements for the finished product size of these cartons. In order to meet the needs of customers, it is necessary to consider the reduction in the size of the finished product, as follows.
(1) Find the variable relationship between the water content of the semi-finished product of the micro-corrugated carton in the production process and the water content of the finished product and the size reduction of the customer.
(2) Strictly monitor the water content of micro corrugated carton products when shipped, generally controlled at about 12%. If the water content of the finished product is too high, the water will be seriously lost during the customer's use, resulting in serious shrinkage and deformation of the finished product. In addition, special attention should be paid to moisture prevention for air or seaborne finished products, and plastic bags should be placed inside the outer packaging.
(3) Keep in touch with customers at all times, pay attention to the customer's inventory conditions, production and processing environment, and give reasonable advice.
