The laser imagesetter is the final output device of the photo-alignment system. It converts the electrical signals in the microcomputer into optical signals and records them on film or photo paper to form chemical information images. After processing, the desired samples are obtained. As the usage time increases, the imagesetter will inevitably have such problems. I have used the ECRMVRL45 laser imagesetter for 6 years. I will introduce the common troubleshooting and daily maintenance during the use, for reference only.


First, the laser phototypesetting machine common troubleshooting


1. Exclusion of the cutter that does not reset the cutter


Symptom: When the “CUT” cropping button of the imagesetter is pressed, the machine has an action, but then the indicator window of the operator's operation panel displays “CUTTER NOT PARKED”, the cutter is not in the original position, and the imagesetter cannot be used normally.


Remedy: Open the photo cover on the imagesetter and gently pull the film out. If the film cannot be taken, only the machine is turned on. Remove the film jammed near the cutter. After confirming that the film has been taken, use the built-in control program and follow the steps below to operate the control panel: MENU OPTIONS DIAGNOSTICS (press NEXT) DIAGNOSTICS UNWIND FILM (press SELECT) SPINNER TEST (press SELECT) PARK CUTTER, press NEXT again, cut the knife After being reset, the imagesetter returned to normal.


2. The photo film machine does not take the film out of the troubleshooting


Symptom: When the film is finished, it is found that there is no film in the cassette.


Cause of issue:


(1) The film is actually moving forward, but it is squeezed under the film roller without entering the film box. At this time, the machine must be opened, the film removed, and normal work resumed.


(2) The film is damp and stuck on the exit channel and must be taken out to return to normal.


(3) The film in the cassette is not properly installed, the film is stuck in the box, and the film must be reinstalled.


(4) The main and driven wheels at both ends of the sprocket roller may be locked by themselves or the side-by-side crepe loosened against the wheel and cannot be rotated. At this time, it is only necessary to clean the wheel bearing or tighten the crepe.


3. The text is shortened along the direction of the film or the alignment of the four-color film is not allowed


Symptom: After the machine is used for a period of time, the alignment of the four-color film occurs. In severe cases, the text layout on the film is significantly shorter than that on the laser printer, and the text on the film is flattened.


The reason for the failure: the film transmission mode of the photo-aligning machine is that the rubber roller presses the film forward at a constant speed, and the laser diode emits light to expose the text information of the film. Inaccurate alignment or text squashing is generally associated with uneven speed during film drive. Moreover, the rubber roller is often affected by dust for a long time with dirty operation, and the fine particles falling off on the film film stick to the rubber roller for a long time, causing the rubber roller to slip, so that the film cannot be rotated at a constant speed, so the text is flattened. This type of failure must be repeated with the rubber roller special cleaning agent until the rubber roller is clean. Therefore, the rubber roller at the exit of the film should be regularly wiped with a special cleaning agent.


Second, the daily maintenance of the photo machine


Paying attention to the daily maintenance of the imagesetter, not only can the output quality of the imagesetter be consistent, but also the service life can be extended. There are mainly the following:


1. have a good working environment


The laser imagesetter must have a stable power supply. It is best to share a regulated power supply with the host. The chassis must be grounded. The imagesetter should be placed in a stable, ventilated, dry place to avoid large vibrations around the machine. Allows interference from strong electric fields and strong magnetic fields.


2. correctly adjust the exposure intensity value


The exposure intensity of ECRM's VRL45 laser imagesetter is 3 digits. The first digit (100 digits) is filter control. There are 4, 1, 2, and 3 options. The filter corresponding to the number 3 has the smallest luminous flux, and the output film has the lightest color. On the contrary, the corresponding filter of the 0 has the largest luminous flux, and the output film is the darkest. The last two digits are the size of the exposure value. The selection is from 0 to 31. The exposure is the smallest and the exposure is the largest. Therefore, the maximum exposure intensity should be 031 and the minimum exposure intensity is 300. Do not set the exposure value of the imagesetter too high. Because it is too high, it will affect the dot curve and shorten the service life.


3. the correct use of the self-checking function of the imagesetter


The self-checking of the imagesetter is an important reference for analyzing the fault range. If the self-test fails, it indicates that the fault is in the phototyper itself; if the self-test is normal, the fault may occur in the host, interface cable, and phototyper interface. between. The correct self-test method steps are as follows: MENU USER NEXT TEST PAT-TERNS NEXT TEST PAT-TERNS#0-4 NEXT Start the self-test.


4. Maintain ambient temperature. Do not exceed 22 degrees Celsius in summer. Because most of the imagesetters have long working hours and large heat storage, it is not conducive to heat dissipation of electrical components and affects the life of electrical appliances.


5. Each time you change the film, you should wipe the rubber roller in the machine with a cloth dampened with water to ensure that the rubber roller has normal elasticity, and should not be wiped with chemicals such as alcohol;


6. Regularly ask professional engineers to clean the optical path. On the one hand, it can keep the output quality better, and on the other hand, extend the service life of the laser tube.


7. It is best not to stop the machine for a long time, proper rest is good for the machine.
