A lot of friends who are doing graphic design have asked me to use the correct method when designing and making, but there will always be mistakes when I finally make a film. Some mistakes can't find the reason. In fact, the root cause of these problems is still at the time of production. Since these problems are common, it is difficult for us to encounter easy to ignore, so once an error occurs, it is difficult to find out that the problem is fundamental. Summarized can be divided into ten major error-prone places, which are dedicated to those who struggle to design the first line and will soon go to the front line.

First, the RGB image has not been transferred to CMYK

Consequences: Most software (FreeHand, Pagemaker, etc.) will not separate the RGB image. If the RGB image is misused, the color separation film that comes out or the image on the black plate only has some parts of the color image. Or have an equivalent grayscale image on four color plates.

Solution: If your scanner supports direct scanning of CYMK, it is best to scan directly to four-color files; if you only get RGB, don't forget to convert RGB to CYMK before output.

Tip: It is hard to see whether it is RGB or CYMK from the file name or file icon. It is too much trouble to open one by one. For TIFF images, you can make a judgment by observing the pre-view color of the image from the typesetting or imposition software: CYMK's TIFF image preview is more vivid and unnatural, and RGB is a more natural color. As for the EPS map, it is difficult to distinguish from the pre-view, and you can only check one by one without worrying.

Second, the FreeHand font uses Heavy (heavier), and the PageMaker font uses Bold (bold)

Consequences: If the Chinese font in FreeHand uses Heavy, most of the time it will be ambiguous; if the Chinese font in PageMaker uses Bold, it will be a superfluous overlapping word, and other font effects in PageMaker will also be Something went wrong.

Solution: Try to avoid the above effects. If the font needs to be bold, you should use the corresponding bold Chinese characters, such as the choice of bold or big black body. If there is no corresponding bold type, you can use Fill and Stroke in FreeHand, but there is an empirical formula, that is, the added word edge cannot exceed 3% of the original font size. If the font itself is in bold, the ratio should be smaller.

Third, use FreeHand in Fill and Stroke (fill pre-word edge)

Consequences: Fill and Stroke can be used to make the font bold, or to have words with different colored edges. However, improper use can result in a paste, or the word side is too thick, and the color of the word itself is squeezed out.

Solution: The word side cannot exceed 3% of the original font size.

Fourth, there is a gray net when black is imprinted

Consequences: Tell the output center that the black version needs to pay attention to whether there is a gray net in the file before imprinting. Because if there is a gray net, the objects under the gray net will pass through. Other embossings specified in the file should also be noted, as the current version of the software does not see which objects have been embossed.

Solution: Be careful when doing work, don't fall into the trap.

Tip: When defining gray, add 1% yellow!

Fifth, wrong use of EPS network

Consequences: 175 lines of output, but some of the lines are wrong.

Solution: Be careful not to choose to have screening information when saving images in EPS format. At the same time, we must pay attention to other options. In some cases, the EPS tape network function can be used to achieve some special requirements, such as the line effect or intentionally adopt different network cables in the same layout to achieve special effects.

Tip: The image is stored in EPS color separation format, which greatly increases the output speed.

Sixth, wrong use DCS format

Consequences:

1, black and white prints have a picture, but there is no picture on the output

2, black and white pictures when printing in color

3, color printing, although the color map, but very rough.

Solution: The reason for 1 is that there is only the main file but no color separation file when outputting:

The reason for 2 is that the main file contains only grayscale images of low resolution:

The reason for 3 is that the main file contains a color map of low resolution.

Seventh, wrong with JPEG compression format

Consequence: There is an image on the screen, and the image is missing after the output.

Solution: In PHOTOSHOP, re-store TIFF or EPS format and return to PAGEMAKER to re-link.

Eighth, the big picture is reduced to small figures and spaces in the paragraph header, spaces in the table.

Consequences: After reading the text or the form output on the screen, it will not be abandoned.

Solution: It is convenient to zoom in the layout software, but the cost is double or several times the output time, so be sure to set the size and resolution in the image processing software (PHOTOSHOP), and then put in the typesetting software; With PAGEMAKER or QuarkXPree,

The software itself has a very good indentation and can make a very professional and neat form. As for the paragraph head, it should be set in the layout.

Ninth, no English fonts

Consequence: The output font is replaced by the system font, go back and take another

Solution: There are more than 10,000 English fonts used in computers, so don't expect the output center to have the English words you use. So call and output center to confirm, if the output center is not, then you must bring the font to the output center.

Tenth, misuse of "pattern - PATTERN"

Consequences: There is a pattern fill in FREEHAND that fills a regular pattern within a certain graphic range. Such patterns are dot matrix, and the LEVEII RIP imagesetters that were previously equipped do not support this filled output, and the LEVE II II imagesetter can output. But one thing to note is that you can't set colors outside of the field for it. If you try to set a light color of c10%y10%, although it is displayed on the screen, the output must be 100% dark green of each cy!

Solution: unless you don't need

Tip: Use the printer to type it out, scan it as a binary TIFF, and then color it into FREEHAND.
