Although various CTP systems have different principles, they are all composed of the following parts.
1. CTP platesetter: exposure equipment for plates.
2. Auxiliary equipment such as process flow, related software, various screening technologies and digital proofing system: software processing and screening processing of graphic files to be printed; use of workflow to simultaneously control plate making machine, digital inkjet proofing machine, etc. Output equipment and transmit CIP information; digital inkjet proofing system is used to print digital samples for customer to sign and proofread, generally printed by the manufacturer.
3.CTP plate-making equipment: general plates need to be developed and cleaned before they can be used. CTP has higher requirements for flushing equipment than traditional printing methods. The main requirement is that the developing cylinder has a large volume to ensure the stability of the solution. In addition, the temperature control of the syrup is more stringent because the temperature and developer concentration affect the dot size after development.
4. CTP machine automatic plate system and connection bridge device and plate-receiving device: This type of device can improve work efficiency and reduce labor intensity. It can be omitted for economical printers or purchased separately as needed. Such automated devices are essential for large-scale printers and newspapers and other efficiency-conscious printers.
Fourth, consider choosing the right CTP system
1. Considering the plate-making quality of the system: The quality of the plate-making dot of the thermal, violet laser, CTcP (UV-CTP, CTdP) has always been the focus of debate. For the plate-making effect of the CTP version and the PS version, the plate system is The quality impact of the final plate is also commented on. The characteristics of different workflows, the variety of network technologies and the application of FM network technology, each manufacturer has its own merits. For the printing factory, objective evaluation and appropriate comparison are necessary. Choosing a system that is suitable for the characteristics of your own work, neither wasteful nor extensible, must be considered when you choose.
2. Consider the capacity of the system: choose the speed of the platesetter according to the capacity of your printing equipment. The speed of the platesetter is generally divided into: 10 sheets/hour, 20 sheets/hour, 30 sheets/hour, and higher speed models. The faster the machine, the higher the price. Generally, a factory with one or two printing machines can choose a machine of 10 to 20 sheets per hour. Such a machine can produce 90 to 200 sheets of printing plates according to 10 hours per day, which is equivalent to 20 to 50 versions.
3. Considering the expected upgrade of production capacity: From the perspective of the improvement of the plate making speed, the equipment preferably has the potential for speed increase, in order to increase the speed of the later printing presses; of course, from the perspective of stability and security, many factories After adding the printing machine, instead of upgrading the CTP plate making system, the number of CTP devices is increased. When the CTP capacity is increased, the mutual backup of the two machines is also performed.
4. Considering the actual operating cost: On the one hand, the number of equipment invested once, the printing factory generally considers more, although many manufacturers can now purchase the machine through financing. On the other hand, the investment in operating costs is long-term, so consideration of related products and consumables is indispensable.
5. From the degree of automation: If the daily plate making amount is not very large, the automatic plate loading and connecting bridge device can be omitted, of course, it depends entirely on the understanding of the staffing and work arrangement of the printing plate in the printing factory. It can also be added later.
