Since the 1980s, China's plastic flexible packaging industry has developed rapidly, and has promoted the continuous upgrading of packaging for food, daily chemicals and pharmaceuticals. The intensification of the industrialization process has brought more environmental problems. Governments should formulate policies that require better protection of the environment and natural resources when developing the economy. The increasing awareness of environmental protection and health and safety has prompted us to tighten the requirements for plastic flexible packaging, especially for health and safety indicators, such as solvent toxicity, solvent residue, and heavy metal content.

Although the flexible packaging gravure printing industry provides people with different functional packaging bags, it also has serious environmental negative effects due to the volatilization of a large amount of organic solvents. At present, in China's flexible packaging gravure inks and dry composite adhesives, aromatic hydrocarbons and ester ketones are widely used. The printing industry generally believes that only by improving the environmental pollution in the gravure process can it be ensured for a long time. The gravure printing industry will further develop, otherwise it will face the possibility of elimination.

In the future, water-based plastic inks will definitely replace the organic solvent-based inks currently in use. However, in view of the current characteristics of water-based inks and the status of existing printing machinery in China, the large-scale promotion of water-based inks on plastic flexible packaging will take time. Water-based ink uses water as a solvent carrier, and the volatilization rate is slower. This requires the printing machine to have a stronger drying ability and the ability to blow air. Due to the chemical action of water, the components that contact the water in the printing machine need to be more resistant. Corrosion and rust resistance, such as plate rolls, scrapers, ink pumps, etc. Therefore, compared with the current toluene-based inks, the alcohol-soluble ink is easily accepted by the environment, which solves the environmental damage caused by the use of toluene and the harm to human health, and the high boiling point of aromatic hydrocarbons. Retention makes the print solvent residue and odor, affecting the practical printing problems of the package contents.

At present, the famous manufacturers in the food industry are optimistic about the beverage and liquid milk market, and successively launch related production lines, but the cost of paper-plastic composite brick packaging is high, which cannot meet the development needs of fast food and popular liquid milk packaging. Under the pressure of competition, food companies began to focus on the pursuit of the decline in the cost of related auxiliary materials. Packing milk and other contents with PE co-extruded film as the substrate can not only achieve the shelf life of 7 to 30 days, but also greatly reduce the packaging cost. It is in this context that liquid flexible packaging has grown rapidly, driving the rapid development of surface printing inks for printing liquid packaging. In the plastic gravure printing ink on the market, most of the polyamide or modified as the binder, this type of ink is used for the polyethylene film, the adhesion of the ink layer is good, and the gloss is good; but the polyamide The inks generally have poor water resistance, are not resistant to grease, and are not resistant to freezing and other performance defects. This type of ink is used for high-temperature printing in summer, which tends to cause stickiness and softening. When it is printed at low temperatures in winter, it will freeze. The liquid package is subjected to high temperature sterilization or freezing during the post-processing process of filling, circulation and storage. Therefore, the defects inherent in the polyamide-based surface-printing ink cannot meet the requirements of the liquid packaging. Chaoli 313A ink is made of polyester (modified) as a binder. It has alcohol-soluble, water-resistant, boiling-resistant and anti-hydrogen peroxide sterilizing properties, which fundamentally improves the defects of polyamide-based surface-printing inks and eliminates the packaging bag pair. The contamination of the contents ensures the hygiene and flavor of the food. The ink is mainly used for high-pressure polyethylene film, such as liquid packaging, exporting daily necessities and the like. It can also be used for BOPP (heat sealable) printing to make high-demand biscuit packaging. In addition, due to its good high temperature resistance, it has been successfully used in beverage packaging for Tetra Pak structures.

New alcohol-soluble composite ink

When the package is printed, the ink or solvent used contains toluene. Since the boiling point of toluene is above 110 °C, it is impossible to completely volatilize during printing and compounding, so it may cause odor of the package. In the past, color printing manufacturers specializing in the production of milk powder packaging spent a lot of money and material resources to control the odor of the packaging bag, such as the introduction of high-speed machines, the use of fast-drying solvents, etc., but still can not fundamentally eliminate the problem of solvent residue. Chaolifu 303LV alcohol-soluble composite ink is developed for the packaging of pharmaceuticals, high-grade puffed foods and other odor-free residues. It is mainly used for PET film, NY film composite printing, packaging structure such as PET//AL (aluminum plating) ) / / PE, PET (NY) / / PE and other drugs, puffed food packaging. The ink does not contain a benzene solvent, and the alcohol ester solvent is used as a diluent. The release property of the resin to the solvent is good, and the residual solvent after printing is extremely low. The specific test indexes are shown in Table 3 and Table 4.

Alcohol-soluble or ester-soluble adhesives can be used when using 303LV ink. The composite strength of the two adhesives can meet the actual requirements of the bag. However, the alcohol-soluble composite ink is preferably used in combination with alcohol-soluble glue to achieve the best composite strength, while ensuring that the solvent residue of the package is kept to a minimum. If an ester-soluble polyurethane adhesive is used, it may bring The residue of ethyl ester. The composite strength test of 303LVI ink is shown in Table 5 by compounding different adhesives.

Environmentally friendly inks are the only way to achieve green printing. Alcohol-soluble, water-based inks can significantly reduce environmental pollution, protect the health of printing workers, and promote the development of printing to non-toxic operations. China has now begun to develop relevant packaging regulations to bring the health and safety requirements of food packaging into line with international standards.
