According to a new study by International Perla, the global market for digital printing and packaging and labeling is expected to reach $2.4 billion in 2000, and the market is expanding nearly three times. This market size is expected to be 182% and 23% healthy composite year. Growth rates are expected to reach nearly $6.8 billion by 2014.

According to some early research and expert analysis, they predicted in the “Packaging Prospects for Digital Printing” that in the five years of 2014, the global market will decline in packaging types, end-use markets, applications, and geographic regions and production processes. In addition, the purpose of this study is to clearly define the advantages and disadvantages associated with digital printing and packaging from 2009 to 2014. This research not only provides a detailed introduction to the direction of critical demand development, but also analyzes the competitive landscape of industry and business opportunities for analytical equipment and consumable suppliers.

Digital printing refers to the reproduction of an image that is reproduced each time a copy is printed. The image carrier can be dynamic (toner) or virtual (inkjet). Although each digital print has similar effects, they are fundamentally different. Despite some time settings,

Digital printing eliminates the need for prepress and expensive traditional news typography adjustments, which greatly reduces costs. Digital printing not only prints on a variety of substrates but also ensures the versatility of the digital press for other printing methods.

The main driver of digital printing in the packaging and labeling are the need for short news customization and operation to limit dormant inventory. The digitally printed labels and packaging on demand are critical in the current economic downturn and in reducing waste measures, as fewer substances, energy, and inks can be used. Standard digital work files - formats that can be edited in the same format as PDF (Quark, Adobe Illustrator, PDF, Adobeh and EskoArtwork) can be received not only online, but also in the early stages of fast folding and warning. Therefore, work that used to start several days in advance can now be done in one afternoon, which is in line with the timely supply chain that some brand owners are pursuing.

Digital printing can also make converters a printing service provider, and offer a wider range of electronic services than traditional printing services. Customer relationship management (CRM) support, network distribution, and digital photo library management are currently services provided by printers and converters.

The biggest advantage of digital printing is that it can do variable data printing (VDP) and allow the production of unique products. Among other things, it can encode and barcode (1 and 2 dimensions), numbering, inclusion of brand integrity equipment, and limited edition production in different language versions.

With regard to the global market for digitally printed packaging and labeling by industry, driven by the faster printing speeds that brand owners are pursuing for innovation and converters, Perla International expects digital usage on cords to be in place during 2009-14 Increase by 4 to 5 times. Some of these growth may come at the expense of folding cartons that have been growing slowly over the past few years. In some cases, brand owners are turning to purely flexible packaging options.

In the end-use market, food and beverages are already at the forefront due to the low level of penetration of electronic technology. In view of the growth in common production packaging and labels, penetration is expected to increase in the near future. According to Perla's forecast, the industry will generate $0.66 million in global sales in 2009 and is expected to rise to $2.1 billion in 2014, up 28% year-on-year.

The study also adds that the most common application of digital printing in the packaging market is general production, with the emphasis on that even if the collection of inspections, prototypes, samples and tests still dominates the printed material, the traditional production function is still the most important. This is especially true for labels compared to packaging. According to Perla, digital production packaging and label printing is expected to be $93,100 in 2009 and is expected to climb to $245 million in 2014.

Geographically, the market for digital printing and packaging can be roughly divided into two lines: developed and developing countries. Western Europe and North America witnessed the lowest growth rates, with Asia Pacific, Eastern Europe, South America, the Middle East and Africa being the highest. According to Perla International's forecast, the average growth rate will be between 19% (North America) and 33% during the period 2009-2014 (East Europe, although the starting point is low but the growth momentum is beyond the previous forecast of 2011).

With regard to advances in digital printing systems, some of the latest systems include on-line system glazing, coating, stacking, conveying, and die cutting. Digital wiring, including folding, bonding and filling machinery, allows the entire printing and packaging process to be carried out at the same location, further saving logistics and supply chain transportation steps.
