The 2026 Pinnacle Printing Technology Awards are announced – which ones will impact the digital printing market?
Recently, the Printing United Alliance in the U.S. announced the winners of the 2026 Pinnacle Awards, with a total of 14 innovative technologies from around the world making it to the Technology Competition category (formerly InterTech).
The Pinnacle Awards are recognized globally as the authoritative technology awards in the printing industry, often called the industry's "innovation barometer." They aim to honor cutting-edge technologies that have the potential to transform the industry and make a lasting impact on the development of printing.

Canon varioPRESS iV7 inkjet printing device

As Canon's next-generation industrial B2 sheet-fed inkjet printer, the varioPRESS iV7 is designed to deeply integrate the high productivity of industrial printing with the flexibility and convenience of digital workflows, creating an all-in-one digital production platform for commercial printing companies.
This machine is built for high-volume commercial printing and can efficiently produce a wide range of high-quality printed products such as books, direct mail ads, marketing materials, catalogs, and greeting cards, fully meeting the growing demand from end clients for short turnaround times. In terms of performance, it can print up to 8,700 sheets/hour in 4/0 format and 4,350 sheets/hour in 4/4 format, with a monthly capacity of up to 4.5 million B2 sheets, allowing a single platform to handle heavy production loads.

Helix® high-drop UV cylinder inkjet printer

Inkcups has launched a new model in their Helix® series of cylindrical inkjet printers, the Helix® High Throw. This printer features high-throw printing technology (also called extended throw or high drop printing), meaning the printhead maintains a greater distance from the substrate, making it suitable for more complex shapes. RubyPaper is a premium microporous resin-coated photo paper developed by Germany's Felix Schoeller Group specifically for high-speed inkjet photo printing. It comes in both glossy and matte finishes, delivering the look and feel of traditional photo paper, supports full industrial inkjet printing speeds, and doesn't require lamination after printing.
Behind this material innovation is the trend of industry convergence between photo printing and commercial printing. As high-speed inkjet platforms continue to improve in output speed, image quality, and layout flexibility, the boundaries between the two fields are becoming increasingly blurred: photo labs are starting to introduce industrial inkjet equipment for large-scale production, and commercial printing companies are gradually entering the photo printing market. The Stomper Yet-Tee automated DTF system from Brown Manufacturing Group brings a full automation upgrade, allowing a single operator to handle the entire DTF garment production process and ship finished products directly. The operator only needs to place the garment in the system, and it automatically completes all DTF processing steps, returning the finished product to the operator's station, ready for packing and shipping.
The fully automated workflow is: the system sends the design file to the DTF printer, cuts a transfer film slightly larger than the design from the roll material, transports the film to the powder coating station, and cures it in the patented FireFly curing unit. The Flipper positioning device, currently in patent application, accurately aligns the transfer film with the designated print area on the garment. Next, the garment goes into an industrial heat press for transfer adhesion, then the Stomper Peel step removes the carrier film, and finally, the finished item is tidied up and returned to the operator for shipping.
