Hanchuan City is located in the heart of the Jianghan Plain, adjacent to the Wuhan metropolitan area. The Hanjiang shipping network and multiple expressways connect the entire area, and it has entered the "dual high-speed rail era." It is an important advanced manufacturing base in Hubei Province. The city's packaging industry is complete and has a complete industrial chain, with over 100 packaging enterprises, including 61 above designated size. In 2024, the paper packaging printing industry cluster in Hanchuan was rated as a provincial-level growth industry cluster and is the only county in the province to have established a full-chain closed-loop of "high-end specialty base paper-multi-category printing-terminal support," with outstanding advantages in industrial support within the Wuhan metropolitan area.



Currently, Hanchuan's packaging and printing industry has formed a coordinated development pattern with diverse categories such as paper packaging, plastic packaging, and metal tin can packaging, building a full industry chain system from base paper manufacturing, cardboard processing, printing design to finished product manufacturing, and is accelerating its leap toward high-end, intelligent, and green directions.



Five major pillars demonstrate strength



Leading enterprises are clustered, leading in niche sectors



Hanchuan's packaging and printing industry has cultivated and introduced a group of leading enterprises with core competitiveness in niche fields. Hubei Evergrande Packaging Co., Ltd. is a native company of Hanchuan. By introducing intelligent production lines and digital management, it has doubled its production capacity and grown into the largest single-unit paper packaging enterprise in Hubei. It has been selected as a national-level specialized and innovative "Little Giant" enterprise, currently holding 10 invention patents and 22 utility model patents, serving customers on e-commerce platforms such as JD.com and Vipshop, as well as leading electronics companies like Gree, Midea, and Xiaomi. Hubei Hexing Packaging & Printing Co., Ltd. has been deeply involved in the industry for nearly 20 years, owning a first-class fully intelligent high-speed corrugated cardboard production line with an annual output exceeding 500 million square meters. Its leading products rank among the top in the national market share nationwide and have been successfully recognized as a national green factory in 2025.















Digital intelligence empowerment upgrades, leading intelligent manufacturing capabilities



Hanchuan's packaging and printing industry actively embraces digital transformation, promoting a comprehensive upgrade from traditional manufacturing to intelligent manufacturing. After introducing intelligent production lines, Evergrande Packaging achieved one-click startup and seamless automatic order changes, saving 70% in labor costs, increasing efficiency by 4 times, reducing carton glue usage by 20%, and reducing steam and energy consumption by about 30%. The company has invested a total of 200 million yuan in technological upgrades, allocating 4% annually from profits to school-enterprise cooperation and technological innovation.



Hexin Intelligent Packaging has built an Industry 4.0 smart factory, investing nearly 200 million yuan in hardware equipment, introducing Italian satellite flexo printers capable of speeds up to 600 meters per minute, achieving high-quality printing with micron-level precision; Introducing the nation's first American HP roll digital printing press, flexibly responding to personalized needs. The factory invested nearly ten million yuan to build ERP, MES, and other information systems, integrating the entire process from order processing, production scheduling, to product delivery under digital control.



To date, Hanchuan has cultivated 20 provincial-level specialized and innovative small and medium-sized enterprises, including Hexing Packaging, Evergrande Packaging, and Hexin Packaging. Evergrande Packaging and Hexin Packaging have been awarded the Hubei Province Manufacturing Single Champion, and four enterprises including Evergrande Packaging and Jie'an Plastics have successfully applied for provincial-level advanced intelligent factory status.



Green transformation takes the lead, low-carbon development leads



Hanchuan's packaging and printing industry integrates green and low-carbon concepts throughout the entire production process, actively building an efficient, clean, low-carbon, and circular green manufacturing system. Hexing Packaging innovatively uses water-based ink instead of oil-based ink, purifying it through a "photooxidation catalytic system," which can reduce organic waste gas emissions by an average of 45% annually; Wastewater is recycled and reused through "filtration + ultrafiltration + reverse osmosis membrane process," successfully recognized as a national green factory in 2025.



Evergrande Packaging has built its own 5.99 MW photovoltaic power station and partnered with the Printing and Packaging Department of Wuhan University to collaborate with industry-university-research collaboration, successfully developing nano glue technology and various high-performance eco-friendly water-based inks, earning national invention patents, and achieving deep integration of production automation, management digitalization, and green low-carbon development. Zhuofeng Packaging has partnered with upstream and downstream enterprises to jointly build the "Green Packaging Innovation Center," breaking through common technologies such as thin-wall injection molding energy-saving and biodegradable modification, with products consistently ranking among the top three in the domestic industry. Xiangyuan New Materials provides local packaging enterprises with biodegradable raw materials, driving more than 10 supporting enterprises to upgrade their environmental protection processes. Companies such as Evergrande Packaging and Hexing Packaging have successfully applied for national-level green factory status, and Kaipuao Plastics has successfully applied for provincial-level green factory status, steadily improving the industry's green and low-carbon development level.







A full-chain closed-loop ecosystem with significant synergy effects



Hanchuan has established a full industry chain system covering base paper manufacturing, cardboard processing, printing design, and final finished product manufacturing. It is the only county in the province to establish a full-chain closed-loop industrial cluster of "high-end specialty base paper-multi-category printing-terminal support."



Upstream in the industry chain, Wuzhou Specialty Paper (Hubei) Co., Ltd.'s 4.49 million ton pulp and paper integrated project is the largest single industrial investment project introduced by Hanchuan City, mainly producing industrial packaging paper and specialty paper. Currently, six production lines have been successfully put into operation, aiming to achieve sales of 1.08 million tons and sales revenue exceeding 4 billion yuan by 2025. Its world's widest glassine paper machine spins at a speed of 1,400 meters per minute, and its products are highly favored in fields such as label lining paper, food packaging, and medical packaging, selling well both domestically and internationally. The industrial packaging paper produced by Wuzhou Special Paper can locally meet the raw material needs of leading local packaging and printing enterprises, effectively reducing industry production costs and building a supply chain system characterized by "local support, efficient collaboration."







In the midstream of the industry chain, clusters of printing and processing enterprises represented by Evergrande Packaging, Hexing Packaging, and Hexin Intelligent have developed, with products covering multiple categories including paper packaging, plastic packaging, and metal tin can packaging. Downstream of the industry chain, these companies serve clients covering e-commerce platforms, leading appliance companies, beer and beverage giants, and internationally renowned brands, forming a market network that covers the entire country and extends overseas.

In March 2026, the Hanchuan Packaging Industry Association was officially established, aiming to build a bridge between government and enterprises, and between enterprises, promoting the industry's transformation from "going it alone" to "developing together." In July of the same year, the Hanchuan Packaging and Printing Industry Chain Quality Improvement Project was officially launched, organized by the Provincial Institute of Standardization and Quality Research. Specialty paper and high-end base paper. Relying on leading enterprises such as Wuzhou specialty paper, introduce specialized paper projects such as glassine paper, silicone paper, and medical packaging paper, further filling the supply gap of high-end base paper and continuously strengthening upstream supporting capabilities in the industry chain.



Intelligent packaging and digital services. Introduce intelligent equipment manufacturing and industrial internet solutions for packaging and printing to promote intelligent transformation and digital transformation of packaging production lines, and enhance the level of industrial intelligent manufacturing.



Green Packaging and New Materials. Focusing on sub-sectors such as biodegradable materials, bio-based packaging, and water-based inks, we will introduce enterprises engaged in the R&D and manufacturing of environmentally friendly packaging materials, and improve the green packaging industry chain.



Food-grade packaging and pharmaceutical packaging. Relying on enterprises such as Zhuofeng Packaging, introduce sub-sectors such as food-grade paper packaging, plastic packaging, and pharmaceutical packaging to expand the high-end packaging market.
