Each quarter, the 3D Printing Industry Index will be edited and published, which is built through a survey of leading companies in the 3D printing industry. Designed to measure past, present and future changes to several key indicators from an industry leader's perspective.
The sentiment index is a powerful and widely used macroeconomic tool. Central bankers, economists, financial analysts, venture capital firms, investors, financial managers and journalists use them for forecasting, trend analysis and gaining insight.
The 3D Printing Industry Index is collected by surveying a representative sample of the additive manufacturing ecosystem on a quarterly basis.

The 3D Printing Industry Index is based on an answer to a survey of five questions.

From the responses to the survey, the index is calculated as follows.
Global index: S=((n+)-(n-))/((n+)+(n-)+(no))n+ the number of positive answers, n-the number of negative answers, n0 is the number of neutral answers .
We also calculate the current index from the answers to questions 1 and 3 and the future 3DPI indices in questions 2, 4 and 5.
The result value of the index is between -1 and 1. Negative numbers indicate that most team members are pessimistic. Although positive values indicate that most team members are optimistic. The closer the value is to 1, the more positive the group members are.
The company plans to release the 3D printing industry sentiment index every quarter in July, October, January and April. Once several quarters of data have been collected, a trend analysis can be performed.
Results of the 3D printing industry sentiment index for June 2018
