Amcor Empowers Precise Pet Care with Innovative Packaging
On the eve of the 28th Asia Pet Fair, global consumer packaging leader Amcor teamed up with several pet brands in Shanghai to launch the new GeWu Amber Pudding Cup. They also reached key strategic partnerships with Ocean Star and Keyan, using packaging technology to help the pet industry level up toward more refined and high-end offerings, paving a path for differentiated growth in the pet market that's about to surpass 400 billion yuan.

China's pet consumption market has maintained steady growth in recent years. Industry data shows that by 2025, the urban pet (dogs and cats) consumption market in China is expected to reach 312.6 billion yuan, and it's projected to surpass 405 billion yuan by 2028. As the biggest segment in the market, the pet food industry is not only expanding in size but also seeing a full shift in consumer mindset: pet owners are moving into a 'precise care' phase. When choosing products, consumers now care about more than just ingredients and formulas-things like formula transparency, feeding convenience, and user experience have become key decision factors. Innovative packaging has also become a crucial way for brands to differentiate themselves and boost customer loyalty.

At the same time, low-carbon and sustainable practices are becoming a global consensus in the pet industry. According to a market report released by QY Research (Hengzhou Bozhi), the global eco-friendly pet packaging market is expected to reach $7.97 billion by 2025 and grow to $11.91 billion by 2030, showing clear long-term industry growth potential. "China's pet market is huge, and the trend of consumption upgrading is obvious, making it a strategic focus for Amcor's global layout," said Li Jijian, Commercial General Manager of Amcor Group Greater China Food & Personal Care Packaging Division. Feeding comfort, packaging safety, and low-carbon sustainability are not only key competitive indicators for high-end brands but also essential strengths for domestic brands going international.
At the event, Amcor teamed up with Jianmo Bio to launch the new Gewu Safe pudding cup. Jianmo Bio owns several popular national pet food brands like Honest Bite, Gewu An, and Laiye. Gewu An is the pioneering brand of fresh meat mousse pet food cans in China and has expanded into a full product matrix including staple food, focusing on fresh ingredients, scientific formulas, high-quality nutrition, and palatability as its core advantages. The newly launched product is the result of their combined efforts to address pain points in the high-end wet food segment and create differentiated products.
As one of the fastest-growing segments in pet food, wet meal foods have seen increasing market penetration in recent years. However, traditional metal cans have common issues such as sharp edges that can cut hands when opened, meat sticking to the sides causing waste, and residue that's hard to clean-these have become widespread problems that limit the upgrade of user experience.

Liu Mengru, head of the GEWUAN brand, introduced that the newly launched pudding cup features an innovative upside-down design. With just four simple steps-'lift, press, tear, and pull'-the delicate mousse can come out of the cup intact, solving the common pain points of traditional cans and fully optimizing the experience from opening to serving. 'The new GEWUAN pudding cup uses high-temperature steam-peel lids, not only making it easier to open, but the lightweight aluminum structure also effectively reduces carbon emissions. It balances cost control with green sustainability needs, helping the brand strengthen its differentiated competitive edge in the high-end wet food market.'

The competition in the pet industry has now expanded from just comparing product formulas to a full-scale battle involving packaging experience, supporting services, and sustainable value. To address this, Amco, the premium pet food brand Ocean Star, and a single-use professional OEM factory completed a long-term strategic partnership signing on-site today. The three parties will jointly launch the 'Moka' card-style single-use integrated packaging solution, covering categories like pet liquid supplements and pet fish oil, suitable for home, travel, and car feeding scenarios, working together to drive a leap forward in the single-use segment. Through 'joint launch of hit products and long-term full-category strategic cooperation,' Amco will collaborate with top upstream and downstream companies for joint innovation, using packaging technology to reduce brand homogenization pressure and jointly push China's pet industry toward higher quality and sustainability.
