What should I do if the inkjet printer nozzle is blocked?

Users who have used inkjet printers may remember it. When the printer is on hold for a long time, the printer will “plug”. If it is not repaired in time, it will affect normal work and study. Secondly, time is one. Long will cause permanent "plugging", causing the printer head to be repaired and scrapped, which is a big problem. If you change the nozzle, basically catch up with the money to buy a new printer! The author combined with many years of work actually summed up a better solution to the "plugging" of inkjet printers. Let's first briefly review the nozzle structure of inkjet printers:


First, the inkjet printer nozzle structure:


The common nozzle structure of inkjet printers mainly consists of an inkjet head and an ink cartridge integrated machine and a separate type:


The ink head structure of the integrated machine is replaced after the ink tank is used up, and the ink head and the ink tank are replaced together. Such a mechanism is relatively tightly coupled and has high reliability, but the relative cost is relatively high;


The ink head and the ink tank of the separate structure are separated, and the ink tank can be replaced separately after the ink is used up, which can save the cost to some extent. Most of the printers currently on the market (such as EPSON, CANON, HP, etc.) use a double ink head structure: a black ink head and a color ink head. In the ink tank, most of the ink is independent of the black ink, and the other three color ink cartridges are integrated, and some of the ink cartridges of each color are independent and can be replaced separately, further reducing the printing cost.


Second, the formation of inkjet printer "plug":


Because the print head is normally sealed after printing, the seal is not tight or placed for a long time, the moisture is excessively evaporated, causing the ink particles to dry at the tip of the fine print head, so that the ink cannot be ejected normally; or the different inks are mixed with each other to produce a chemical reaction. It usually appears as a fault that often occurs when the thread is broken, the color is missing, the writing is blurred, and even the printing cannot be performed normally.


Third, the classification of inkjet printer "plug":


It can be roughly divided into two categories: soft plugs and hard plugs.


(1) Repair of soft plugs:

1. Soft plugging refers to the disconnection fault caused by the viscosity of the ink on the nozzle due to various reasons. Sometimes it only adheres to the surface of the nozzle of the ink outlet. Generally, the original ink can be recovered after repeated cleaning. It is a bit simple and fast, without any physical damage; the disadvantage is that it is costly to use and wastes ink.

2. The print head cleaning function is used in the application tool of the printer driver; the advantage is that the operation is simple, convenient and fast; the disadvantage is that the cleaning effect is not ideal.


Precautions:


1. The above two methods should generally not exceed three times. When the printer "plug" is not serious, it should be opened within three times; if it cannot be opened three times, it means that the plug is more serious, and the cleaning times are not necessarily useful, and it is unnecessary to waste a lot of expensive ink. Further processing of the specific situation;

2, due to the "air resistance" phenomenon between the ink cartridge (such as the sponge filling type) and the print head, a small amount of irregular disconnection will occur. At this time, it is not necessary to repeatedly clean it. After being placed for a period of time, it can be used normally after being turned on again;

3, avoid mixing ink. Newly purchased inks should not be rushed to add to the ink cartridges. First use a clean disposable syringe to inhale some of the ink and observe it in a bright place to see if there is any suspended matter in the ink. If there is suspended matter, it should not be mixed. Then, a little ink is sucked from the used ink cartridge and mixed with the newly purchased ink, and then left to stand for 24 hours, and then observed to see if the mixed ink has a chemical reaction. If a change (such as crystallization) occurs, the two inks are described. Poor compatibility, remember to mix.


(2) Repair of hard plugs

The hard plug refers to the plug caused by chemical coagulation or impurities in the nozzle. The troubleshooting method is difficult. In this case, the following four methods can be used to solve the problem.


1. Soaking method

Scope of application: lighter resistance

Essential tools: 95% alcohol, a clean cup and a flat metal container with a flat surface;

How it works: Dissolve the ink particles one by one with a medium-strength organic solvent. Note that 95% organic solvent alcohol must be used, otherwise it will be counterproductive.

Solution: First find a metal container with a flat surface and add a little 95% organic solvent alcohol to the container. The alcohol is just enough to cover the stainless steel edge of the print head (be careful not to let the PCB contact alcohol). Soaking time generally ranges from 2 hours to 4 days. The advantage is that the cleaning effect is good, and it is not easy to cause physical damage to the print head; the disadvantage is that the time required is long, and it is difficult to solve the urgent need of the user.


2, pressure cleaning method

Scope of application: the situation is blocked

Essential tools: 95% alcohol, a clean cup, a disposable syringe, disposable infusion set.

Working principle: Using the pressure generated by the siphon action of the syringe, the organic solvent of alcohol is injected into the print head to achieve the function of cleaning the dry ink head.

Solution: Use a plastic tube or needle part of a disposable infusion set to make the interface between the syringe and the ink supply port of the print head (the bonding part must be tight). After the interface is finished, place the head of the print head in the concentration. In 95% organic solvent alcohol, the alcohol is inhaled through the print head (note that it can only be inhaled) in the syringe needle and inhaled several times. The advantage is that the cleaning effect is good. Generally, a relatively heavy print head can be cleaned by this method. It is worth noting that inhaling alcohol is to apply even force, coherent, and generally does not cause physical damage. It is only necessary to make the interface by hand because of the actual situation. Therefore, it is necessary to have professional maintenance technicians to cooperate. It has certain hands-on ability to repair it, and the good tools can ensure long-term use.


3. Distilled water cleaning method

Scope of application: severely blocked

Essential tools: a decoded empty cartridge, a disposable syringe, and a bottle of medical distilled water (also available in pure water).

Working principle: Similar to the working principle of pressure cleaning method, it is not necessary to repeat them here.

Solution: Prepare a decoded empty ink cartridge, a disposable syringe and a bottle of medical distilled water. Using the pressure generated by the siphon action of the syringe, inject the syringe into the distilled water through the vent hole of the ink cartridge, and then inject it into the cartridge for a while. The injected distilled water is sucked out by a syringe, so that the remaining ink in the ink cartridge is washed repeatedly several times.


4, ultrasonic instrument cleaning method

Scope of application: the most severely blocked

Working principle: Ultrasonic cleaning machine is used to generate strong ultrasonic waves, so that the water molecules vibrate violently, and the fine dry ink particles are shattered and dissolved in water to achieve the purpose of cleaning.

Solution: Put the inkjet print head gently into the washing machine, add pure water or special print head cleaning solution, pure water or special print head cleaning solution is just enough to cover the stainless steel edge of the print head (be careful not to let the PCB board Contact with pure water or special cleaning solution), and clean it quickly after 10 to 15 hours. The advantage is that the cleaning effect is very good, the print head that has been blocked for many years can be cleaned and the operation is very simple; the disadvantage is that the maintenance cost is high and the price is relatively expensive. Under normal circumstances, ultrasonic cleaning machines can be found in hospitals, eyewear stores or mobile phone special maintenance points, and some places are free, and can also be modified with ultrasonic humidifiers. It is worth noting that the cleaning solution must use pure water or special print head cleaning solution. It is not allowed to use the cleaning solution of the hospital, eyeglass store or mobile phone special maintenance point, because the cleaning liquid of the glasses store generally contains more impurities. Cleaning fluids in hospitals and mobile phone special maintenance points are generally strong organic solvents, and frequent use can cause fatal damage to the inkjet print head.


Fourth, note:


1. When a sudden power failure, power failure, or ink cartridge cannot be returned to normal, the power supply voltage must be stabilized and then turned on. After the ink cartridge is properly returned, it can be used normally. This is because the special ink used in the printer has the characteristics of quick-drying, which prevents the ink nozzle from being exposed to the air when the nozzle portion of the print head is idle, causing the ink concentration to increase and drying.


Note: When the red power indicator of the printer is still flashing, do not unplug the power plug or cut power.


2, because the ink for inkjet printers has the influence of factors such as volatility and the use environment, long-term use will also cause the nozzle to clog, so even if you do not use it for a long time, you should start the self-test every other day. This is because after each normal boot, the printer calculates the time interval of the switch according to its internal clock, and automatically cleans the print head according to its length. The purpose is also to prevent the nozzle from being blocked due to long-term use. .


3. When the ink is used up, you need to replace the new ink cartridge in time. Because if it is not replaced in time, it will easily cause the nozzle to dry up and be scrapped. However, for HP, CANON and other printers, because the ink cartridge and the nozzle are integrated, the replacement of the ink cartridge also replaces the nozzle. For this type of ink cartridge, the life of the ink cartridge can be extended by adding ink, and even if the ink cartridge is blocked, the entire machine will not be scrapped. It is worth noting that the ink cartridge is under negative pressure. If ink is not added after adding ink, no ink will be ejected when printing.


4. Customize different printing methods. Save ink by choosing to use different ink cartridges, media type, self-adjusting print density, and custom print mode.


5. In order to effectively prevent the ink cartridge from being exposed to the air for a long time, it may cause dry plugging. When the printer is not in use, the nozzle should be placed in a dedicated nozzle storage box.


6. Clean the print heads regularly. When cleaning, use a good quality wet tissue or a cotton-free paper towel to carefully wipe the edge of the nozzle. Be careful not to touch the nozzle. Then use the cleaning button on the control panel to clean the nozzle until the printout effect is better.
