In the United States, the IML method is being used more and more, and a wide range of labels of various colors are readily available. The development of UV-cured overcoats is just a few examples of changes in the label industry. These changes outline the label. The future of the industry.

At present, the focus of the label industry is still on the 60# and 70# GIS (single-sided coating) label paper. But buyers of rubberized labels are increasingly turning to plastic synthetic materials. These plastic labels (usually polypropylene) are used in some metal cans, but they are most favored by the beverage industry and are widely used in plastics and glass bottles. Plastic heat-shrinkable sleeve labels are used both on metal cans and on bottles because the flexographic printing process is both economical and meets satisfactory standards.

Paper and printing

As long as food companies still have glue applicators, they still use paper labels and stick them on metal cans and bottles. These labels are occasionally pressed out of the pattern or ironed to give them a unique quality. However, these characteristics have also improved significantly, and food companies are known to be reluctant to pay more for their labels.

In the last few years, two major changes have taken place in the field of paper labels:

The first is the need for a UV (ultraviolet) cured topcoat.

The second is the use of a wider range of ink colors.

Many printers can print nine colors in a single print process, so they can print more special colors and spend less. Special colors can reduce discoloration. Discoloration often occurs when using a four-color ink to create a special background or solid color on a label. Most trademark buyers pay special attention to some basic quality factors, which are divided into cosmetic and functional. The factors that must be controlled in the category of appearance are:

1. Color consistency

2. Number of ink gaps (must be kept to a minimum) shrinkage and wrinkles

3. Resistance to fading In terms of functionality, it is important to control the following factors: size (must be consistent) not sticking or agglomerating

4. Anti-wear

5. Flattening (no curling) and consistency

Many label purchasers now require monochrome printing on the back of the label to support certain promotions. This requirement has also been met, and the processing cost is relatively low, as many sheetfed presses have such a device that can also color the back of the label in one print.
