Digital proofing is the page data made by the color desktop publishing system. The sample is output directly by the color printing device digitally without any analog processing.

Digital proofing machine
The principle of digital proofing
Digital proofing is an application system consisting of digital color management software and professional color printers. At present, there are three main principles and implementation methods of digital proofing color management:
The first is to use ICC private color matching theory and technology, using a spectrophotometer to create and manage color by forming ICCProfile files by color matching of printed proofs and printed proofs. He is the future development direction, but at present, ICC technology is in the process of perfecting. Under the conditions of diversified domestic production conditions, limited funds, and low level of personnel and management, there are still problems such as high equipment capital requirements and complicated use.
The second is to use traditional color control theory to give reflection density to control color density by controlling density and dot by controlling the traditional proofing control method. It is the basis of ICC mode to control color management, and is the transition from traditional proofing to digital proofing. Color management technology, but there are also problems with high theoretical and technical requirements for operators.
The third is to combine the first and second hybrid color management methods. For the actual situation of domestic printing production, the digital proofing system with mixed color management has better effect and is easy to master.
Currently, digital proofing software is divided into three types:
The first is the design proof for the layout design;
The second is color proofing for color effects;
The third is Screen proof for color and dot effects. Among them, color proofing is the most widely used.
Digital proofing equipment
1. Inkjet printer
Inkjet printers use the principle of thermal foaming to spray ink onto a substrate through a nozzle to form an image. This proofing technology has high printing precision, strong color function, small size, light weight and low price, and is widely used in the printing industry.
2. Sublimation printer
This proofing system uses a printhead containing thousands of heating elements and a color ribbon containing CMYK colors for proofing. The printhead produces 256 different levels of heat, and the solid pigment sublimes into steam and condenses on the receiving medium. At the center of each point, the color is darker and the edges are lighter. When the printed four-color pigments are fused together, a continuous tone image is formed. The image printed by this printer is continuous in color tone, close to the output quality of color photos, and the color is very beautiful, but the cost is high and the printing degree is also slow, which is suitable for high-end users.
3. Thermal transfer type color printer
It is heated by the heating elements on the printhead to transfer the solid ink on the ribbon to the print medium. The printer has high printing quality and high speed, and the sample is close to the printing effect, and is easy to realize high-definition printing, and is widely used.
4. Color laser printer
Color laser printers are based on black and white laser printers. It uses a laser beam to scan the drum, controls the opening and closing of the laser beam to cause the photosensitive drum to suck and not absorb the toner, and the photosensitive drum transfers the adsorbed toner onto the paper to form a printed image. The printing system has high precision, but the hue of the toner is not ideal enough, the color gamut is not wide enough, and the level of analog printing is limited.
