A device that accepts layout information stored in digital form and implements printing is called a digital press. Digital printing machines are divided into two types: digital printing machines and digital printing machines.
First, no version of digital printing machine
A common feature of unprinted digital printing is the implementation of variable information printing. The current non-printing presses can be classified into three types, an electrophotographic method, a coagulation method, and an inkjet method.
1. Electrophotographic method
First, the photoreceptor (OPC) is fully charged, and then the image is taken with a laser or the like to generate an electrostatic latent image, and then the electrostatic latent image is covered with the toner, and finally the toner image is transferred onto the paper. The toner has two kinds of powder and liquid. At present, most of the powder toner is used.
The digital printing machine with powder toner is the first to introduce the Cromass series. The width of the series is 32cm and 50cm. The maximum length that can be output is 11m. The mechanical part of this type of printing press is mainly produced by Xeikon, such as the Xeikon DCP series. Others such as Xerox's Docucolor and 70&100 IBMInfo70&l00, Nilpeter DL-3300 are also similar products. The printing press uses four-color double-sided printing by electrophotography with a resolution of 60 Odpi. At the paper feeding position of the roll paper, the printing stability and the transfer rate can be improved by adjusting the temperature and humidity of the paper.
The E-Print (Indigo) series uses liquid toners, in addition to the previous model E-Printl000, E-Print Pro, TurboStream, UltraStream, Omnius, Omnius CardPress and so on. Although the models are different, the basic structure and principle are the same. The resolution is 800×80 Odpi and 800×12OOdpi.
2. Electrocoagulation
A digital press using electrocoagulation is represented by the products of ELCORSY TECHNOLOGY in Monterey, Canada. The press is targeted for use after 2000, and the detailed structure of the machine has not yet been announced. Figure 2 is a schematic diagram of the mechanical operation of the ELcorsy printing press.
In Fig. 2, the device (1) first coats the plate cylinder with a very thin layer of oily substance, and then, by means of the device (2), a layer of ink is evenly sprayed on the oil film. The device (3) is composed of an electrode array (negative electrode) arranged in a straight line by at least 3,400 very thin independent needle electrodes, and is perpendicular to the plate cylinder. The interval between the two is about 5Oμm. On the electrodes, a DC pulse in the range of 0.05-4 nm corresponding to the image signal can be generated. As shown in Fig. 3, when the electric field generated by the pulse signal reaches the plate cylinder, an electrochemical reaction is generated on the surface of the plate cylinder to generate trivalent iron ions. This iron ion enters the ink through the protective film on the surface of the drum to cause the ink to aggregate. The stronger the signal, the more iron ions are generated, and the greater the amount of agglutinated ink. Once the DC pulse signal is interrupted, all reactions will stop. The device (5) is a squeegee made of rubber. The excess ink is removed by dryness. According to the above principle, an ink dot can be formed on the plate cylinder, and the size of the ink dot and the thickness of the ink layer have a correct correspondence with the image signal.
Such a printing press is described above as a printing color group, and if a plurality of groups are connected in accordance with the necessary color number, a multicolor printing machine is constructed. If the turning device is added in the middle, double-sided printing can be realized, and thus it is suitable for printing for various purposes. Moreover, the image quality of printed matter is close to the continuous tone image, so people are waiting to see the launch of the product.
3. Inkjet method
The inkjet printer consists of a number of nozzles in a dot matrix structure. By accepting the layout information of the computer, the ink is ejected from a very fine nozzle, and the electric field is controlled by an electric field to generate images and graphics on the paper. There are also ink jet printers in which the ejection of ink and the formation of granules are achieved by means of charging and pressurization.
The digital printing machine for inkjet printing is very versatile. It has general-purpose models and special-purpose models. However, depending on the purpose of use, the speed and resolution and the color reproduction area are quite different. In particular, it has recently been noticed that the price of large format high quality inkjet printers has fallen sharply.
Second, there is a version of digital printing machine
In the case of a digital printing press, a pre-made plate must be placed on the plate cylinder, except that the plate is made directly on the press. Compared with the traditional printing machine, although this printing machine also needs a printing plate, since it is a direct plate making in the machine mode, only one printing machine can complete the production process from data to print, which saves the equipment. Time, materials, and reduced production costs.
1, special type printing machine
The main representative model of the special-type printing machine is TruePress, and its operation principle is shown in Figure 4. Its basic structure is on the four-color printing machine with double-diameter drum structure, equipped with Mitsubishi Silver DigiPlate for direct plate making and development. Equipment, a press that forms a composite structure.
Due to the use of Mitsubishi Silver DigiPlate direct plate making plate, the cost is low, and various performance printing inks can be selected according to different needs. Therefore, the printing machine is closer to the printing conditions of conventional printing in terms of use conditions. Moreover, this type of plate can use UV ink, which solves a series of problems caused by the excessive drying time of the ink in the past printing.
In the special-purpose digital printing machine, there is also a model that is also attracting attention. This is the 74Karat of Sai Angel/KAB. The design of the double-diameter cylinder is the same as that of the screen company TruePress.
2, traditional printing machine
The main representative model of the traditional printing press is the Hyde SpeedMaster D174. This model is based on the traditional printing press SpeedMaster 74, so you can use the PS version or the direct plate making method with a resolution of 2400dpi, the board is made of PressTek PEARLgold, and the same type of plate.
Third, future issues
The digital printing press mentioned above receives the layout information in digital form for printing. Therefore, how to correctly transfer the data of the network or database to the printing machine is a key issue. In the whole process of data transmission, it is necessary to first identify the bottleneck in order to improve production efficiency. In the future, it is necessary to conduct research in the following aspects:
1. Digitization of the entire layout of the printed matter;
2. Digitalization of simulated negatives;
3. Electronic matching, electronic binding;
4. Speed up the calculation time;
5. Data processing compatible with the amount of data;
6. Preservation of layout data;
7. The use of the database.
