Combination printing refers to an in-line printing process consisting of two or more printing methods or post-press processing. By taking advantage of the characteristics of various printing methods and combining post-press processing, a beautifully printed product is finally obtained.

Technical development of combined printing

Combination printing can be used to set the length of various printing methods, and the advantages of the connection line are obvious. However, due to the large number of printing methods, there are also resistances such as long changing time, complicated operation, and heavy waste. However, since the application of servo technology, sleeve technology, automatic registration technology, combined printing not only enables the web press to print seamlessly, saving 5% to 10% of the cost of printing materials; Version, pre-registration, and automatic registration make it easier to change orders.

1. Servo technology

Offset printing, flexo printing, gravure printing and other printing methods have completely different mechanical structures, and the requirements for transmission are also quite different: when the same printing method is combined, the mechanical shaft transmission design is relatively simple; different printing methods are combined, due to the transmission ratio, The transmission positions are different and the mechanical design structure is complicated. However, the servo motor can directly drive the required ink roller or roller, which greatly reduces the difficulty of mechanical design. In addition, the servo motor replaces the traditional mechanical transmission, which also solves the problem that the original printing repeating circumference is limited by the number of gear teeth, and can be based on the actual roller. The diameter directly drives the roller to the desired speed.

2. Sleeve technology

The sleeve technology is not only widely used in flexographic printing machines, but also on offset printing. This technology enables the printing repeating circumference to purchase the most economical size according to the actual order, even to achieve the most economical seamless version of the printed material; for the printing machine with variable printing repeating circumference, the operator's change work can be greatly reduced. Strength, shortening the time for changing orders.

3. Automatic registration technology

The pre-registration technology means that after the different rollers are replaced, the servo motor can be directly driven to directly register the plate cylinder according to the plate registration requirements, and the pre-registration work must be manually performed after the traditional plate cylinder is placed. Save material waste and adjust time. At the same time, after adopting the automatic registration technology, the printing machine can adjust the phase of the printing roller by adjusting the position of the color mark to ensure the printing registration, which also reduces the requirement for printing tension control during the printing process, and reduces the replacement order. Waste of materials.

4. Ink technology

Different printing methods, printing ink characteristics also have large differences, combined printing inks need to have strong adaptability to printing materials, so the existing combination printing generally chooses UV ink or EB ink.

Application trend of combined printing

1. Offset printing becomes mainstream

Label printing generally adopts the combination printing of “gravure base and flexo printing”, but with the wide application of intermittent offset printing technology in the label field, especially the ink prefabrication of offset printing and the remote control technology of ink fountain, the offset printing is the main one, and Printing methods such as flexo printing have also become one of the current choices. Goss (China) recently introduced the Divo-Stream drum variable combination printing solution, which uses servo technology and sleeve technology to not only print the film, but also has a good application in carton pre-printing, folding carton, etc. The devices that are personalized to the customer's needs are integrated to provide a customized, automated, high-performance printing solution.

2. Digital printing application

When the printing of invoices began printing the invoices in 2001, the digital printing was installed in the ticket printing machine to print the variable prize information and the invoice number; then the electronic supervision code was implemented to print the one-dimensional barcode on the paper box and label. So, you can implement tracking management. Therefore, the combination of digital printing and traditional printing can easily combine prints with the Internet.

With the maturity of technology, combined printing can be modularized according to the needs of printed products, to achieve the optimal printing process, reduce printing costs and improve printing efficiency for the printing house. Currently, this application is expanding from the label printing industry to the packaging industry.
