Some printing process knowledge that graphic designers must know!

Many designers think that the renderings can be done by making them beautiful, but there is a certain gap between the renderings and the effect of landing. For example, some simple printing processes, if you don't even know this, it is really necessary to make up for the following commonly used printing process knowledge.
printing01
▲ Matte film

▲ Light film
It is a processing technology that covers the surface of the printed matter with a plastic film and uses an adhesive to be heated and pressurized to bond it together to form a printed matter that integrates paper and plastic.
Features: The surface of the product covered with glossy film is bright and expressive; The surface of the product covered with matte film is non-reflective, high-grade and elegant.
Note: Paper below 128 grams is easy to roll due to the difference in surface tension on both sides after single-sided lamination; After applying matte film, the color saturation of the print will be slightly reduced.

▲Laser process
The scientific name is hot press transfer printing, referred to as thermal pad printing, commonly known as hot stamping, hot silver. It is a method of hot printing metal foil onto the printed matter with the help of a certain pressure and temperature, and there is also a cold pad printing.
Features: metallic luster, high-grade forced grid, so that the printed picture produces a strong contrast.
Note: It can be more significant with the convex or concave process; In addition to gold and silver, the colors that can be used include color gold, laser, spot color, etc.

▲ Convexity

▲ Concave
Embossing: Combining intaglio and letterpress, sandwiching paper into it, and then applying pressure to decommune the paper to express text and patterns. Except that gold leaf is not applicable, the realization process is the same as that of bronzing silver.
Convexity: As opposed to concave, it is a process that makes paper concave. Not only one layer of convex, but also different convex to present the effect of engraving.
Note: If it is combined with bronzing, local UV and other processes, the effect is better.

Embossing is a common processing technology for decorative packaging materials. It is a technology that uses molds with concave and convex patterns to deform the pressure-bearing materials (PVC, aluminum, wood, paper, etc.) under the action of a certain pressure and temperature to form a certain pattern, so as to carry out artistic processing on the surface.
Features: The surface of the embossed packaging decoration material presents different patterns and textures, with an obvious three-dimensional sense of relief, which enhances the artistic appeal of the pressure-bearing material.

▲ Die-cutting
A forming process that uses steel knives and steel wires to arrange a template, and then rolls and cuts the printed matter or other substrates into the required shape or cut marks under the action of pressure. In Guangdong, it is also called beer, pronounced as "turtle", which means die-cutting.
Features: It is mainly the processing method of cutting paper type by mold, which can produce special-shaped and enhance expressiveness.
Note: Try to avoid patterns and lines close to the cutting line, which is easy to cause cutting errors.

▲ Partial UV

▲ Full version over UV
Ultraviolet light glue is solidified on the surface of the printed matter or partially cured to improve water resistance and abrasion resistance. Wrap a layer of varnish on the pattern that needs to be highlighted, mainly to increase the brightness and artistic effect of the product.
Features: It can present a variety of artistic effects on the surface of the printed matter, making the printed matter more exquisite, and can also thicken UV, frosted UV, colorful UV, glass beads sprinkled with colorful powder, etc.
Note: If UV on the film is used, it is necessary to use a special UV film, otherwise the UV is easy to fall off, blister, open the glue, etc., and the effect is better with special processes such as convex and hot stamping.

▲ Opaque ink
It is a special ink for lithographic printing, and is characterized by opacity. White is mainly used, and a variety of printing effects can be obtained by printing with the color of the paper itself and multiple colors.

Brush the paper with a layer of glue and then paste a fluff-like substance to make the paper look and feel a little flannel. Some of the functions of flocking on paper are decorative, and some are used because of the soft feel of flocking.

It is to brush an extra layer of color on the edge of the paper, which is suitable for paper with higher thickness and is often used for business cards.
