Ink gloss refers to the ability of a printed sample to reflect the amount of light in one direction when illuminated by light. The factors affecting gloss are mainly the nature of the ink, the printing conditions, the nature of the paper, and the relationship between the paper and the ink.

For the ink, the gloss depends on the smoothness of the ink layer, that is, the leveling property, and the retention of the binder in the ink film contributes to the improvement of the gloss. The conditions for forming high gloss are: 1 pigment dispersion is uniform 2 has sufficient viscosity 3 fast drying speed to reduce excessive penetration of the binder into the paper, adding dry oil, generally can increase the gloss and after drying, the ink film should have flatness The energy of the incident light is mirrored as much as possible, and the reflection is reduced to reduce the generation of warm reflection.

For printing conditions, the gloss depends on the printing speed, printing pressure, printing temperature and humidity, and whether or not the powder is printed after printing. When the printing speed is fast, the amount of the binder entering the paper is small, and the gloss is lowered. When the printing pressure is large, the gloss is high. When the printing temperature and humidity are large, the capillary pores of the paper are opened, and the binder and the pigment in the ink are easily penetrated and the gloss is high. Conversely, if the paper has poor smoothness, the gloss is relatively low.

Therefore, several methods for improving the gloss of the ink layer are as follows: 1. The ideal pressure is the primary condition for improving the gloss of the ink layer. If the pressure is insufficient, the impression will be emptied, the ink will be transferred to the surface of the substrate, and the stack will be stacked. Stack rubber, therefore, should prevent pressure from being light. "Field" printing can increase the thickness of the liner as appropriate. 2. The water consumption of the layout can not be large, the ink transmission is difficult due to the large water, the imprint is empty, the ink color is uneven (before and after the interruption), the color is not fresh (the emulsification value is increased and the ink color is diluted), if the "field" area is large or the color blocks are large The pH value of the syrup can be appropriately reduced to ensure that the minimum moisture is used, and the dirt is not carried, and the amount of ink in the ink fountain is not reduced. 3. When possible, use stack printing, plate color separation to play the process characteristics of the color ink borrowing, light color ink for the background color, dark ink for the face color, and properly grasp the interval of the overprinting, to obtain a good stack Ink effect. 4. Printed light "field" can be diluted with a thinner to increase its brightness. High-grade prints can also be diluted with bright light paste. In addition to the special requirements of the product, try to use less white ink as a thinner to print. 5. To be diluted, the ink should be selected to have a low coloring power and a low concentration ink to meet the needs of the ink color saturation. The ink with too strong tinting strength is used as the diluted color, and the "field" ink will make the layout. The ink layer is too thin to cause a "flower plate" to reduce gloss. 6. Adapt to the addition of dry oil, can improve the gloss of the "solid" color block. For urgent parts, white dry oil and red dry oil are added, red dry oil (usually added in red ink and black ink, medium blue and dark blue ink can also be added) can increase the "solid" gloss, if there is no overprint, only add Red dry oil, stronger gloss. Red dry oil mainly plays a role in surface drying. 7. Applying varnish or plastic film on the printing surface can enhance the gloss, but the cost is high. The high varnish features good water resistance, fast drying, fine dry ink film, high brightness and high transparency. It is mainly used in fine prints. And field printing.
