With the improvement of people's brand awareness, each beer manufacturer pays more and more attention to the image of the outer packaging of beer, not only making a fuss on the body label, but also adding a cap on the beer bottle mouth. The beer cap label is different from the body logo. The body logo is generally printed on synthetic paper, while the cap label is printed on pure aluminum foil, so the cap label has much higher requirements on the printing process and post-press processing than the body mark. In addition, for the beer manufacturer, in addition to the aesthetic requirements of the hat label, it is also required to be easy to operate when labeling, and to meet the requirements of water resistance and frost resistance. To meet the requirements of both the beer manufacturer and the printing manufacturer, the gravure printing ink selected for the beer cap is essential. Here is how to use beer cap gravure printing ink for simple analysis.
Basic performance requirements and test methods for inks
1. Printing ink adhesion fastness requirements
If the ink adhesion is not enough, the printing factory may appear faded after embossing, slitting and labeling at the brewery. Therefore, the adhesion fastness is the primary consideration when selecting ink. The method for detecting the adhesion fastness is usually after the ink is printed on the aluminum foil substrate, and is adhered with a tape. If it is not colored, it is acceptable, and vice versa.
2. Gloss and vividness requirements of printing inks
Although the aluminum foil itself has a metallic mirror effect, if an ink having a good gloss and vividness can be used, the printed pattern will be more vivid and more beautiful. As beer manufacturers, they certainly hope that their packaging can give people a high-end feeling, so it is important that the ink has sufficient gloss and vividness.
3. Printing ink smoothness requirements
If the label is not smooth enough, it will reduce the work efficiency when the label is stuck together, but it should not be too slippery. Otherwise, the knife edge will slip when it is cut after printing, and even the production date and batch number will not be printed. The phenomenon. Therefore, the smoothness of the printing ink should be appropriate.
Usually, the method of detecting the smoothness is to align two 20cm × 20cm unembossed prints with full version of the ink, face to face, and fix one of them at 30° and 45° respectively. Test: At 30° angle, if the print slides down, the ink's smoothness is too high; at 45°, if the print does not slip, the ink's smoothness is not enough. That is, the print is required to not slide down at an angle of 30°, and can slide down at an angle of 45°.
4. Water resistance and frost resistance requirements of printing inks
In the summer, people usually drink beer after it is chilled, and feel refreshed. Therefore, printing inks are required to resist water and fading at low temperatures. The usual test method is to freeze the print in the refrigerator for 8 hours or soak it in ice water for 8 hours, then wipe it by hand, and it is a good product without fading.
Ink selection and use
1. Selection of beer cap gravure printing ink
Beer cap gravure printing ink can be divided into varnish, transparent ink and translucent ink according to characteristics. Choose according to the packaging requirements.
(1) If the print is required to have a light reflection effect on the metal surface, a transparent ink should be used, but this type of ink is expensive.
(2) If the printed parts are required to be bright in color, semi-transparent inks are generally available; if you want to get more vivid colors, you can print a layer of varnish or white ink on the aluminum foil substrate before printing the translucent ink. Take a layer of varnish after printing the translucent ink. In contrast, the former will get more vivid colors.
(3) Some labels have only a small part of the pattern, most of which are bare aluminum foil. At this time, a layer of varnish must be printed, otherwise the label will be fragile and not easy to cut.
2. Use of beer cap gravure printing ink
After selecting the desired ink type, the following methods are usually used for printing.
(1) Control of ink printing viscosity
The control of the ink printing viscosity is usually adjusted according to the printing speed of the printing machine. When the machine speed is fast, the viscosity is lowered. When the machine speed is slow, the viscosity is increased. The following principles are generally followed (viscosity test conditions: 3# Zahn cup test at room temperature 25 ° C).
1 When the printing speed is 30~80 m/min, the ink viscosity is controlled at 16~22s.
2 When the printing speed is 80~120 m/min, the ink viscosity is controlled at 12~16s.
3 When the printing speed is 120~150 m/min, the ink viscosity is controlled at 9~12s.
It is worth noting that in the printing process, to control the printing viscosity range of the ink, it is necessary to replenish the ink to the ink from time to time.
(2) Blending solvent blending
Diluting solvents are classified into three types: fast drying type, medium drying type and slow drying type according to the speed of volatilization.
1 For the benzene-soluble ink, the usual dilution solvent is as follows.
Quick drying type: toluene.. isopropyl drunk.. ethyl acetate = 5..3..2.
Medium dry type: toluene: isopropanol: butyl acetate = 6..3..1.
Slow drying type: xylene: n-butanol: butyl acetate = 5..3..2.
2 For alcohol-soluble inks, the usual dilution solvent is as follows.
Quick drying type: ethanol: ethyl acetate = 5.. 5.
Medium dry type: isopropanol: butyl acetate = 6..4.
Slow drying type: n-butanol: butyl acetate = 5.. 5.
Usually, the dilution solvent is selected according to the printing speed. The fast drying type diluent should be used for the printing speed, and the slow drying diluent is used for the slow printing speed. Dilution is required as required, and resin is precipitated to destroy the ink, which is also the basis for ensuring the printing effect.
(3) Control of ink color
The aluminum foil substrate is different from other materials. As long as the color of the ink is slightly different, the color difference printed on the aluminum foil substrate will be very obvious, so the control of the color density is very important. Moreover, when the color density is lowered during the printing process, the dilution solvent cannot be used blindly, but should be used with the thinner, because the dilution solvent will significantly reduce the viscosity of the ink, and the thinner will only dilute the ink and will not lower the ink. Viscosity. Therefore, when adjusting the color density, it is usually used in combination with a diluent and a dilution solvent. For spot color inks, it is best to use spot colors that are formulated by the ink manufacturer to reduce ink chromatic aberration.
In addition, we accumulate our own printing experience data and adjust our printing technical parameters according to different printing conditions to ensure the best printing results.
