Paper is one of the most widely used substrates, and its performance directly affects production efficiency and product quality stability. Production practice shows that paper has the same "thixotropy" side as ink, and the generation of printing static electricity is an inevitable expression of paper characteristics variation.

In the dry climate, the chances of static electricity on printed papers have increased significantly, especially for non-coated paper products. The electrostatic phenomenon is particularly strong at high printing speeds. The generation of static electricity not only causes the paper surface to absorb dust and paper hair, but also causes the paper to stick to each other, which causes great obstacles to normal paper feeding, paper feeding and paper delivery, and seriously affects production efficiency and product quality. So, why does paper produce static electricity? Why is printing static on paper in winter? We know that static electricity is caused by the friction of the paper during the movement. The faster the printing speed of the machine, the more friction between the paper and the printer or between the paper and the paper, and the more serious the electrostatic phenomenon. Paper that produces static electricity, the moisture content must be significantly lower, measured with a rapid moisture meter, and some moisture is less than 3%. It seems that the size of the printed electrostatic phenomenon (that is, the degree of charging) is inversely related to the moisture content of the paper. This is because the paper is drier, the surface resistance is higher, and static electricity is generated by friction during the paper feeding process, and the generated current is difficult. Circulate and stay. In this case, if there is a large amount of moisture in the air surrounding the printing environment, the static charge on the paper surface is quickly transmitted to the air to avoid malfunction. This shows that the static electricity is not only related to the paper moisture content, but also closely related to the relative humidity of the printing workshop. When the paper moisture content is less than 3% and the relative humidity of the printing workshop is less than 40%, the printing static electricity is easy to occur. Especially in the case where the temperature of the paper is lower than the temperature of the printing shop, the phenomenon of electrostatic failure is more prominent.

Paper moisture content, temperature and humidity in the pressroom, and high-speed frictional motion can cause static electricity on the paper. In addition, in the paper mill manufacturing process, due to the low content of electrolytes (such as sodium chloride, alum, etc.), excessive sizing substances, and some fillers (such as kaolin) are less, then the paper is baked. During the dry and calendering process, the paper is charged with high voltage by the action and influence of high temperature and pressure. Improper storage method of paper is also the source of printing static electricity. When there is a significant disparity between the temperature and humidity of the paper warehouse and the temperature and humidity of the printing workshop, the paper moisture content changes cause printing static electricity; before printing, the paper stacking time is too short and stacking stack The pressure is too high, so that the paper and the printing workshop temperature and humidity lack an effective balance time and excessive pressure is also prone to electrostatic failure.

Paper printing electrostatic failure can be solved by various methods. Through the implementation of preventive measures, the effect of eliminating or reducing static electricity can be achieved. First, adjust the temperature and humidity of the printing workshop and paper warehouse to maintain a relative balance. The general temperature is controlled between 18 ° C and 20 ° C, and the relative humidity is maintained at 60% to 65%. If the paper is electrostatically charged, the workshop is relatively The humidity can be adjusted to between 80% and 85%; the second is to hang the paper, the thickness of the paper hanging in each clip is within 100 sheets, and the paper should be looser and better between paper and paper. In order to facilitate the paper surface to fully absorb the moisture in the air to maintain a uniform water content on the paper surface; the third is to install a static eliminator for the printing machine, to eliminate the printing static electricity by adjusting the voltage or high frequency; The speed of the vehicle reduces the degree of friction of the paper during the printing process, so that the static phenomenon is weakened.

In summary, taking all necessary precautions is of great importance to effectively prevent the occurrence of printing static electricity, which can achieve the elimination of static electricity and ensure normal production and product quality.
