The finishing process of hardcover books is divided into three major processes: sealing, bookbinding, and nesting. It mainly includes binding books, adhesives, drying, splitting, rounding, ridges, three sticks, shell making, and ironing. Printing, sleeve sweeping, etc. Due to the numerous processing steps and complicated operation of the hardcover book, the processing difficulty is higher than that of the glue book and the saddle stitch, and there are more quality problems. Therefore, in order to ensure the quality of the hardcover book, the operator should master the operating specifications of each process after printing.
Before production
1. Check the details of the products to be processed
According to the production list of the workshop, check whether the details of the products to be processed are consistent with the construction order, and find the problem and report it to the production department in time.
2. Prepare production materials
(1) Three-stick operators prepare materials such as backing paper, plug cloth, gauze, adhesive, etc. according to the size of the book.
(2) The shell-making operator prepares the materials according to the requirements of the construction manual of the workshop, prepares the paperboard for the press and the shell, and determines the glue for the paste according to the nature of the bookboard.
(3) The fit operator prepares the liner, press, etc. The glue for the upper shell and the glue for the lining are determined according to the color of the cover of the book cover, the materials used, and the like.
(4) Prepare the platen of the finished product and transport the product to be processed to the front of the workbench.
3. Prepare equipment
Check the equipment before starting to ensure the normal operation of the equipment. Before starting the machine, send a signal first. After the test machine, confirm that there is no problem before it can be officially produced.
In production
1. Book core
The printed pages are finished by folding, page, lock, flattening, cutting, backing, rounding, ridges, and three sticks. Below, the author introduces the precautions in the operation process of the unique backing, rounding and three-stick processes of the hardcover book.
(1) The back of the pulp means that after the book core is bundled, the thin adhesive is applied to the back of the book to make the book block basically shaped. After the glue layer is dried, the book is separated and the quality is checked. For the book with the back pulp, the back is re-processed.
(2) The hardcover book is divided into a round back and a square back. The book core of the hardback book does not need to be rounded, and the book core of the round back hardcover book needs to be rounded. After the back of the book is rounded, it is necessary to ensure that the round shape and the arc length are the same, and the central angle corresponding to the arc is about 90° to 130°.
(3) The three-stick process is a sticky plug cloth, a sticky back paper, and a gauze cloth.
3.1 sticky plug cloth
The cutting width of the plug cloth is the width of the back of the book. First, white latex is applied to the head and the foot of the book, and then the plug cloth is attached. It is required to be straight, sticky, and adhered. The edge of the plug cloth exposes the upper and lower incisions of the book core by about 1 mm.
3.2 sticky gauze
Brush the white latex on the back of the book and center the cut gauze on the back of the book. It is required to stick and stick.
3.3 sticky book back paper
Brush the entire book back with white latex, stick the cut book back to the back of the book, and stick it to the back of the book. Be careful not to rub the glue into other parts of the book block incision.
2. Book shell
(1) The cut angle of the cover material should be moderate. If you cut too much, you will not be able to cover the cardboard. If you cut too little, it will not be easy to wrap. When brushing the cover material, it is required to be thin and uniform.
(2) Ensure that the back of the book on the cover is centered. When the cardboard is placed, the cardboard should be placed on the left and right sides, and the medium-diameter cardboard should be placed in the middle.
(3) The edge should be covered, and no empty edge should appear. The wrap angle should be flat, and the double angle and wrap angle should not appear.
(4) The pressure should be uniform and sufficient when flattening to ensure that the book case is flat and free of wrinkles. The flattened book case should be checked one by one, and the medium-diameter cardboard should be picked up and repaired. Dry the checked book case vertically. The dried book case is stacked face to face, and pressed with heavy objects on the top for subsequent hot stamping or upper shell.
3. Fit
(1) When brushing the book cover, do not allow the glue to flow to other locations. After confirming the size of the book block and the size of the book case, place the book block in the book ditch, test the fit, check whether the three sides of the floating mouth are consistent, and whether the back of the book and the spine are flat, then close the book case and align the three sides of the book, and finally The book groove is compacted.
(2) When sweeping, the brush should be lifted up gently to ensure that the brush is thin and even, and there is no way to brush the glue or overflow. The pressure should be consistent and sufficient when flattening to ensure that the liner is firm and flat.
(3) After the flattening of the sweeping lining is completed, it is necessary to check whether the book has any problems such as sticky lining, inverted head, missing sweep, and overflowing glue.
(4) When the groove is operated, ensure that the book groove is straight and there is no double groove.
(5) The operation personnel of each process should do the quality identification according to the workshop regulations.
(6) When the machine is in normal operation, the operator should stick to the post and observe the operation of the machine and the product at any time. If the problem is found, it should be stopped immediately. It is strictly forbidden to eliminate the fault when the machine is running.
After production
After the end of production, not only the finished product should be inspected and packaged, but also the equipment and the site should be maintained. The specific points are as follows.
(1) Inspect the finished product first, and then perform the encapsulation operation. Statistics on completed products, count the mantissa, and report to the workshop dispatcher. Note that the way to bundle the ropes can not be used when packing the finished product, so as to prevent the floating mouth of the hardcover book.
(2) Timely repair the on-duty waste, bundle the unrepairable waste and place it at the designated place.
(3) Fill in the production daily report truthfully.
(4) Do a good job in maintenance and on-site cleaning of the equipment after the shift, and do a good job of handing over the shift.
Problem solving process
1. Machine problem
The workshop analyzes the problems raised by the machine and solves the problems in the workshop or the problems that the workshop can solve.
2. Material problems
The workshop will notify the production management department at the first time, and the production management department will instruct the relevant departments to solve the problem according to the material jurisdiction.
3. Quality issues
For the quality of the upper process, the workshop should notify the technical quality department at the first time, and the technical quality department instructs the relevant workshop to solve the problem, analyze the nature of the problem, and put forward treatment opinions and future preventive measures.
4. Customer issues
For the problem of the relationship with the customer, the workshop should inform the customer service department as soon as possible, and the customer service department will contact the customer to come up with a solution as soon as possible to ensure the normal production.
