Magnetic card classification mainly has two different methods.
1. Classified by purpose
Magnetic cards can be divided into the following three types according to their purposes.
(1) General magnetic card. The function of this magnetic card is similar to that of a business card, which mainly serves to prove the identity of cardholders, such as golf membership cards and club membership cards.
(2) Password card. The password card is also referred to as ID card (Identification). In the card, the ID number (password) of the card holder is generally recorded by a magnetic writing method, and mainly includes a student card, a bank cash access card, a shopping credit card, and a magnetic key. This kind of magnetic card usually reads the information recorded on the magnetic card by a special reading device, and searches and processes various data through a computer network.
(3) Prepaid cash card. This kind of magnetic card is generally sold at a price equal to or slightly higher than the denomination of the card, and the card holder has paid cash in advance. Such as telephone cards, bus tickets, etc. are all such. The advantage of using this magnetic card is that it is easy to carry, it can be settled automatically, and it is convenient to use, but it does not have confidentiality.
2. Classified by production and information reading
The types can be summarized into the following five types.
(1) General magnetic card. This magnetic card generally does not require magnetic processing, and only the necessary information is printed and recorded on the surface of the card.
(2) dedicated magnetic card. When making a special magnetic card, magnetic processing should generally be performed on one or both sides of the card, and the necessary information is recorded in the magnetic recording part. This kind of magnetic card must read the information through a special reading device and have certain anti-counterfeiting performance.
(3) DCR optical read card. OCR (Optical Character Reader) is called an optical character reading card. It records information that needs to be recorded on the surface of a card by using a specific optical body (such as an OCRB optically read font) and reads it through a dedicated optical reader. Its recorded information.
