(1) Resolution

The print quality of a laser printer is generally expressed in terms of its resolution (in dpi). The printing quality of Chinese characters in laser printers is an important indicator. It mainly refers to whether the output Chinese characters are rich in appearance, size, and shadow.


The implementation of the Chinese character printing function of the laser printer mainly has two kinds of character mode and graphic mode. If the software on the host transmits the contents of the print file to the printer in the form of character codes and print commands, the internal hard font of the printer is used, and the fonts, fonts, and various variations of the Chinese characters and corresponding changes are loaded into the printer and the corresponding processing is performed. The program decides. Since the Western laser printer has various Western fonts installed in the interior, it is used in the printing of Western languages, which is characterized by very fast printing speed and high quality.


At present, most of the types of typesetting software in the mainland use the graphic method for Chinese character printing, that is, the host typesetting software first forms the image file into the image file, and then sends it to the printer to print it graphically. Second, printing speed

In principle, the output speed of a laser printer depends on the motor it is using. The quality of the motor determines the output speed, resolution and toner consumption of the laser printer. At present, the output speed of a general desktop laser printer is about 4 to 8 pages per minute.


Many users mistakenly think that the printer's motor speed is equal to the actual speed of the printed document, that is to say, all 8 pages/min laser printers have the same printing speed, and the 8 page/min printer must be faster than 6 pages/min. printer. In fact, the printing speed of the printer changes due to the different software and hardware parts in the printing process. The motor speed can only represent the speed of the printer's empty paper. This speed may be similar only when the same content is repeatedly printed or the western language is printed.


In the process of Chinese character laser printout, it generally takes several steps, such as software processing, character or glyph dot matrix transmission, printer receiving processing, and printing. At present, Western Western laser printers are only suitable for Western languages because of their printing processing mechanism. Chinese character application software can only output and print using image mode. The general parallel port data transmission speed is 20KB/S. It takes about 30 seconds to print a page of content in the graphic mode. If the laser printer is used for a network, then it must have a high-speed character mode transfer and an internal hard font Chinese character printer. Because the speed of the laser printer is too slow and the versatility is poor, the Chinese character printing technology tends to be hardware accelerated. Hardware acceleration mainly includes Chinese character font box, video card, print port expansion card and Chinese character laser printing controller.


(1) Chinese character font box method

The Chinese character font box method uses the font interface provided by the Western laser machine to insert the Chinese character library box, and uses the internal control mechanism of the laser printer to take out the font and place it in a specified position on a page. It is characterized by faster speed and simple hardware. However, since the font interface of the laser printer is for Western languages, the width of Chinese and Western characters is different, which requires software to make control adjustments. Therefore, the laser printer using this method cannot be a general-purpose Chinese laser printer. At the same time, because its control mechanism is inside the laser printer, this method limits the Chinese characters to only use dot matrix fonts, so the printing requirements such as stepless zooming and multiple fonts are difficult to achieve, even if the cost is unacceptable. Therefore, the Chinese character font mode is a relatively simple hardware acceleration method, and the output font size is limited to the font size stored in the font library, and various fonts, font sizes, and format changes cannot be freely performed according to the instructions of the typesetting software. (2) Video card mode

The video card method is to insert the video card into the PC host, and its function is to control the opening and closing of the laser beam. The card has a page buffer memory, and each bit in the buffer corresponds to a point on the printed page, and the Chinese characters are processed. After becoming a dot matrix, it is placed at the specified position of the page buffer. When the entire page is processed, a paper feed command is issued to the printer. During the paper feeding process, each bit in the page buffer is sequentially transferred to the video port. Since each point on the page can be controlled, a variety of printing effects can be realized.


The disadvantage is that because this kind of processing mode shares the CPU with the host, it takes up a lot of memory space, and the application software preempts the system resources, the price is also expensive, and the host Chinese character system and application software must be required to support the video port mode, and the Chinese character system is used at the same time. Its own software font, so its output accuracy and speed will be affected. Relative to the font box method, the use of video cards to achieve Chinese character printing is complicated in hardware and software. Beijia's Beijia laser printer is the model, and it must be used as a universal printing peripheral device by using the Beijia laser printer simulation system.


(3) Print port expansion card mode

The printing port expansion method is to insert a printing card into the expansion slot of the laser printer. The card has a large-capacity RAM or ROM for storing fonts, programs and page buffers. When the ROM font library is used, the booting does not need to load the font from the host. When the RAM font is used, the program and font can be loaded into the card from the PC at one time after booting. The advantage is that the user can print the font by himself. In this way, the general software can print the Chinese characters as long as it can send the Chinese character code to the printer, and does not affect the original Western printing function of the printer. The disadvantage is that the buyer spends another sum of money on the Western printer and has a total investment. Many imported Western laser printers now use this method to print Chinese characters.


(4) Chinese character laser printing controller mode

According to the characteristics of the Chinese character environment, the various resources (such as fonts) and technology used in Chinese character printing are combined with the Western printing technology to develop a Chinese and Western laser printing controller and a standard laser printer that conform to the Chinese information processing method. The cores are combined to form a Chinese and Western laser printer, that is, a Chinese laser printer.


Chinese should be close to the printing speed of 4 pages/minute and 8 pages/minute in Western language. It must use the same character transmission and hard font printing method as Western language, that is, the Chinese and Western laser printer using the printing controller.


The Chinese character laser printing control method not only greatly improves the printing speed of Chinese characters, but also does not depend on the environment for use. In addition to the operation, expansion, and maintenance of the hardware, the software is also very important. It is very important that the printer is compatible with the software most commonly used by users.


Since the laser printer is a high-end device, the amount of laser printer used by each host in daily work is not too high. Therefore, it is very important that the printer has multiple parallel ports. One of the most common failures of laser printers is damage to the printer interface caused by frequent insertion and removal of the transmission cable. Achieving multiple lasers shared by multiple hosts can reduce such failures and improve the efficiency of laser printers.


In addition, whether the selected laser printer can simulate other traditional forms of printers, whether the manufacturer provides good technical support, and whether the supply of consumables is insured or not should also be paid enough attention when purchasing.


Laser printer use


After the laser printer is unpacked, open the upper cover and remove the plastic fixing clip inside the machine (the color of the plastic fixing card is different from the color of the printer), and place the laser printer on the workpiece table.


Room temperature should be controlled at about 22 °C, relative temperature 20% ~ 80%; and avoid direct sunlight and chemical erosion. The laser printer power supply voltage must not exceed 10% of the number identified on the printer nameplate.


Unlike the conventional dot matrix printer, the laser printer does not have a striking function. It uses the photoelectric principle to dissolve the toner into the paper, so the laser printer cannot print the wax paper. Good quality copy paper and adhesive paper, envelopes, labels and projection transparencies can be used as laser printer paper. The laser printer paper must be dry and free of static electricity, otherwise the paper jam or the printer's documents may be black. The printing paper should be stored at a temperature of 17 ° C ~ 23 ° C, relative humidity of 40% ~ 50%, so that the best printing results.


If a paper jam is found during printing, open the printer cover, pull out the paper jammed in the printer, and close the printer cover. The fault can be eliminated. If there are frequent failures, clean the corona wire and paper feed track of the printer with a dry cloth.


The correct procedure for the laser printer


1. Power on the computer and printer. The printer is in the ON-LINE state, that is, the ON-LINE green light is on.

2. Issue a print command on your computer.

3. When the last page is too small to be played, you can put the printer in the OFF-LINE state and press the FORMFEED button to print the last page.

4. Press the ON-LINE button again to return the printer to the ON-LINE state to receive more information.


Laser printer maintenance


According to the command issued by the computer, the laser printer adsorbs the charged toner on the photosensitive drum by photoelectric action, and then prints the photosensitive toner from the photosensitive drum to the printing paper to heat the toner to dissolve the toner into the paper fiber to complete the printing function. Therefore, the photosensitive drum plays an important role in the entire laser printing process, and the value of a photosensitive drum is generally about 1,000 yuan, so the maintenance of the photosensitive drum is more important.


When the drum is working, the relative humidity should be 20~80%, the temperature should be 10~32.5°C, avoid direct sunlight, try to achieve constant temperature and humidity. The photosensitive drum is valid for two and a half years when it is not unsealed, and is valid for 6 months after unpacking. The drum cartridge is printed with an expiration date and must be used within the validity period.


After the drum cartridge is taken out of the aluminum bag, it cannot be placed under direct illumination, nor can it be placed in the room light for more than ten minutes, otherwise the printing effect will be affected.


During the printing process, sometimes the printer LCD will display a message indicating that the toner in the drum will be used up. It is necessary to add powder or replace the drum immediately, otherwise the printed document will become lighter and the manuscript will change. There will also be white bars. After the print file is completed, use the cleaning brush to remove the remaining toner from the drum to ensure the quality of the next page.


If the printed toner accidentally touches the clothes, use a dry cloth to take it off, then wash the clothes in cold water and do not put them in hot water, otherwise the ink will remain on the fabric forever.


The laser printer generates ozone during the printing process. The ozone filter must be replaced every 50,000 sheets (the laser printer self-test sample can see how many sheets have been printed), although the ozone filter looks very clean at this time. But it can't filter the ozone.


When the laser printer is placed in a crowded environment, the room is not well ventilated, the printer's exhaust port is facing the operator's face, and the ozone filter is used for too long, the ozone generated by the printer during the printing process will cause harm to the human body. At this time, it is necessary to improve the working environment of the printer and replace the ozone filter in time.


Usually, use a dry cloth to wipe off the paper dust and dust in the laser printer, and clean the corona wire, etc., in order to ensure the normal use of the laser printer and extend its life.
