The gloss of the ink film refers to the ability of the ink to reflect light at an angle. The gloss of the ink film has a great influence on the appearance of the printed product. The gloss is good, the color is bright, and the grade of the printed product appears high. The gloss of the ink film is directly related to its microscopic flatness, which is mainly affected by the leveling of the ink and the smoothness of the printed surface of the substrate. The better the leveling of the ink transferred to the printing film, the smoother the surface and the higher the gloss. The higher the smoothness of the printed surface of the substrate, the better the gloss of the ink film. In addition, it is also affected by the following factors during the printing process.
1 ink solubility and viscosity
The stronger the solvent's ability to dissolve the ink, the better the ink dissolves and the better the gloss of the print. When the working ink viscosity is suitable, it is easy to obtain a better gloss when the ink is leveled. Ink deterioration, solvent imbalance, excessive dilution, and solvent impact not only affect printing performance, but also damage the ink structure, causing the pigment to separate from the resin oil, often significantly reducing the gloss of the ink.
2 resin or co-resin binder
The binder not only functions as a transfer pigment, but also serves to protect the color, gloss and protect the substrate. Adding an appropriate amount of ink within the allowable range of color density can improve the gloss of the ink to some extent.
3 drying speed
In general, appropriately reducing the drying speed of the ink is advantageous for improving the gloss of the ink film. Drying too fast, the ink on the overprint is easy to whiten and appears dull. Of course, when the drying is too slow, the ink film will lose its luster due to adhesion and the like.
