Adaptability of printing methods
The diversity of substrates determines the suitability of packaging printing for various printing methods.
So far, several major printing methods have been used for packaging printing, such as letterpress printing, lithographic offset printing, gravure printing, screen printing and flexographic printing. However, in order to obtain inexpensive packaging materials, it is difficult to make a reasonable choice of printing methods. Therefore, in practical applications, the ideal printing method should be reasonably selected according to the application, printing requirements, the nature of the printing material and the surface shape. The following principles are available for reference.
(1) Letterpress printing.
Main features: clear graphics, suitable for packaging and printing of line manuscripts, thick and bright colors.
Application examples: trademarks, wrapping paper and packaging cartons, self-adhesive printing, etc. Currently, most of them are used for small-format parts printing.
(2) lithographic offset printing.
Main features: clear dot, rich layering, good color reproducibility and wide application.
Application examples: samples, advertising, trademark printing, metal printing, etc.
(3) Gravure printing.
Main features: thick ink layer, three-dimensional, clear layer, suitable for flexible packaging materials printing.
Application examples: various plastic films, composite paper bags, wallpapers and building materials printing.
(4) Flexographic printing.
Main features: It is suitable for all kinds of printing materials, and can get good results for various line originals and general dot printing, and the cost is relatively low.
Application examples: flexible packaging printing, label printing, corrugated board printing, packaging carton printing, the use of water-based inks can be used in medicine, food and pollution-free printing, and is widely used in product packaging and printing.
(5) Screen printing.
Main features: The ink layer is thick and heavy, and has good durability. It is suitable for printing on various printing materials and moldings.
Application examples: printing on paper, cardboard, fabrics and various packaging containers.
Compared with the general printing method, packaging printing has the following main features.
Substrate diversity
The diversity of packaging and printing substrates is mainly reflected in the following aspects.
(1) Printing materials. The printing and printing materials are not only paper, cardboard, but also various other plastic films, fabrics, metals and so on.
(2) Substrate specifications. The printed and printed substrate format not only has the common specifications of general printing paper, but also has a width of up to 3m, as small as 1m of printing material; the thickness of the substrate is as large as 3 to 4 layers of composite corrugated cardboard, as small as 0.025mm Thick film.
(3) The surface of the substrate. In addition to the plane, the surface of the substrate also has convex, concave, curved surfaces and various molded objects.
Understanding the diversity of substrates is of great significance for the rational selection of printing methods, the quality of printed products, and the reduction of printing costs.
The complexity of printing and finishing
In packaging printing, on the one hand, different substrates, different plates. Different inks have different printability; on the other hand, in order to protect the printing surface, improve the surface gloss, and obtain special visual effects, often after printing, such as glazing, laminating, bronzing, indentation , die cutting and other post-press processing. Therefore, higher requirements are placed on the printability and post-printing suitability of packaging printing. This requires a comprehensive understanding of the suitability of printing and post-press processing, and constantly summarizes and accumulates experience to obtain good printing and post-press processing effects.
High quality and high efficiency of the product
In general, since the main function of packaging printing is to beautify, promote products, promote sales, and increase sales value, the quality of packaged printed products is mostly in the middle. High-end products. In addition, in order to maximize the quality of printed products, new technologies, new processes, and new materials are often first promoted and applied in packaging and printing, so that the quality of printed products is always in a leading position. That is to say, packaging printing is to occupy the market with high quality and achieve high efficiency with high quality. This is one of the important reasons why the packaging and printing industry has been attracting attention in the world for more than a decade.
