With the advancement of the printing industry, printing technology and printing equipment continue to improve and improve. Among them, offset printing has its unique advantages, such as rapid and convenient plate making, low cost, high printing quality, wide range of paper use, and large shrinkage of printing. The favor of external printing manufacturers has led to rapid and extensive development, and then dominated the international printing industry, and offset printing inks have also developed rapidly.
Offset ink
Ink, as the most important printing material for information reproduction, should have good printability during the printing process. Offset printing inks are mainly composed of colored pigments (dyes, etc.), binders, fillers and additives. They are mixed and stirred according to the printing requirements according to the printing requirements, and are made by the rolling ink process.
The pigment is a solid powdery substance which is insoluble in water, insoluble in oil or a binder, and has a certain color, including inorganic pigments and organic pigments. It is not only the main solid component of the ink, but also the colored part visible on the object. To a large extent, it determines the color, thickness, light resistance and other properties of the ink. At present, black pigments used in printing inks are mostly inorganic materials (such as carbon black), while color inks are mostly organic pigments.
Offset printing inks can be divided into sheet-fed offset printing inks and rotary offset printing inks according to printing machinery. According to different drying methods, they can be divided into osmotic offset printing inks, thermosetting offset printing inks, and photocuring (UV/EB) offset printing inks. Selection of offset printing inks for different printing machines and different substrates
1. Web offset press ink
The ink used in the web offset press is the offset printing ink, which is usually referred to as the following two types: a. Infiltration drying type: Due to the high printing speed of the use of newsprint and offset paper web offset printing machines, the ink drying speed is fast, so the commonly used inks are mostly osmotic drying type. b. Thermosetting ink: In the modern commercial web offset press, the drying device is added to the rear half of the printing device. To adapt to this production condition, a thermosetting ink is used, which is heated in the drying device, in the ink. The evaporation of the solvent allows the ink film to dry quickly, and the amount of dry oil (such as linseed oil) in the thermosetting ink is small. The amount of petroleum agent is high, and the other components are slightly the same as the sheet-fed offset printing machine ink. The paper used for the thermosetting ink is better than the paper used for the pervious drying ink.
2. Sheetfed offset press ink
1 offset printing bright ink
Offset gloss inks are made from synthetic resins, dry vegetable oils with high boiling alkane oils. A colloidal ink composed of high-quality pigments and additives. For monochrome, two-color or multi-color offset printing machines on the coated paper to print albums, pictures and other advanced prints. The gloss of the ink is mainly produced by the conjunctiva after the binder is dried. The gloss of the ink and the flatness of the ink film are good. The surface attached to the substrate should form a plane, and the incident light is directionally reflected, that is, it has a mirror effect. The binder is required to stay on the surface of the substrate to the maximum extent.
2 offset resin ink
The offset resin ink is made of synthetic resin, dry vegetable oil, mineral oil, high-quality pigment and filler, and is prepared by grinding. Offset resin inks are characterized by a low vegetable oil content and a high solvent ratio, usually high-boiling alkanes, which act as a decarburizing effect in the ink. After the ink is transferred onto the paper, this part of the solvent quickly penetrates into the paper fibers under the action of the capillary, which speeds up the drying of the ink and reduces the smudging of the printed matter.
3UV offset ink
Printing with UV ink in offset printing is commonly referred to as UV offset printing. UV offset inks are a type of ink that uses ultraviolet (UV) radiant energy to cure liquid chemicals into ink films by rapid cross-linking. It requires a UV curing unit in the press. As a kind of offset printing ink, UV offset printing ink must first be printed by offset printing. Therefore, UV offset printing ink should also have some characteristics of ordinary offset printing ink to meet the requirements of printing suitability.
4 offset synthetic paper ink
In the absence of a UV offset printing machine, the use of a conventional four-color printing press to print paper, synthetic paper, etc., which is not easy to dry on the surface of the substrate, requires the use of offset synthetic paper inks, which are suitable for printing. Non-absorbent printing substrates such as various synthetic papers (golden cardboard, silver cardboard, aluminum foil paper, special paper), the ink has the characteristics of fast drying and good adhesion on the printed matter. Since the drying speed of the ink is very fast, when the printing process is stopped, the ink on the rubber roller should be cleaned in time to prevent the ink crust from drying.
Environmentally friendly offset ink
With the development of science and technology, people's requirements for environmental protection are increasing, so environmentally friendly inks have emerged. Environmentally friendly inks are also known as green inks. In offset printing, there are mainly soy inks and UV-curable inks.
Ultraviolet curing ink is also called UV ink. The main features of UV ink are: solvent-free volatilization, no pollution, environmental protection requirements, widely used in food packaging printing, good printability, suitable for printing paper jam, plastic products, metal, textiles and other printing materials, curing time is short , low energy consumption, good print quality.
