The holding point of the circular die cutter is large investment and easy to damage. The factors affecting the service life of the die cutter include: the type of substrate to be die-cut, the type of ink printed on the substrate, and the maintenance. If the printed matter is printed with metal ink such as gold or silver, the die wear will accelerate the wear of the tool.

Storage

You should choose a cool and dry place to store the die cutter. To prevent the blade from being cut, you can use a nylon brush to apply a thin layer of oil to the blade and its vicinity. It is best to use the box provided by the die cutter supplier when storing to ensure that the blade does not come into contact with any part or item in the box. The die cutter can be completely wrapped with foam, and the support block in the box must be supported on the short shaft at both ends of the die cutter, and cannot be supported on the blade.

Transport

When packing and transporting, be sure to use the appropriate size and strong box. Only one die cutter is placed in each box. The surface of the die cutter is covered with foam. The short shafts at both ends of the die cutter should be respectively covered with wooden blocks with holes, and the wooden blocks are fixed in the box to prevent the medium die cutter from being displaced in the box during transportation. The outside of the box needs to be wrapped with a packing tape. The surface of the box must be marked with the words "wearable parts" to attract attention.

Lifting and handling

When lifting and transporting in the workshop, apply the cloth cover on the surface of the die cutter to prevent the blade from being damaged. When installing other parts, prevent the parts from loosening and falling onto the die cutter, otherwise the die cutter will be seriously damaged.

Use and maintenance

When using a die cutter, be sure to use the shoulder pad brush provided by the manufacturer to apply a proper amount of lubricant to the surface of the die cutter and the anvil roll to form a thin layer between the two. A thin oil film that improves the wear resistance of the die shoulder and the anvil roll surface.

During the use, the wear of the die cutter gear should be mastered at any time, and the gear should be replaced if necessary. Because during processing, the manufacturer intentionally makes the hardness of the die cutter gear slightly lower than the hardness of the undercut roller gear, so that the wear first occurs on the gear of the die cutter. This avoids frequent replacement of the more expensive anvil roller gears that are difficult to disassemble. This situation is very similar to the relative hardness of the plate roller gear and the impression roller gear, as it is easier to replace the plate roller gear.

When die-cutting, it is important to balance the pressure. The surface of the die cutter is covered with a layer of tape to reduce the impact, and small pieces of paper can be ejected.

Make a good record

It is necessary to develop the habit of recording, including the number of die-cutting, the date the die-cutting knife is sent back to the grinding, the condition of the die-cut paper at each work, and the case of using metallic ink if necessary. With reference to these records, it is possible to know when it is necessary to repair the die cutter in the future, and when to order a new die cutter to avoid delays in production or waste.
