Flexo printing is currently widely used in China, and the printing materials are more and more diversified. In addition to traditional printing materials such as ordinary coated paper, cardboard and stickers, there are some new special materials, such as in-mold labels. A good print requires good design, good printing, good ink, good materials, good machines, good technology, etc. So how is a good film print produced?


First, the quality of a product depends largely on the design of the product. Each type of printing has unique printing features. For example, offset printing has the advantages of small dot expansion, high registration accuracy, and soft gradient of dots, and there is not much emphasis on the design of text or gradation during design. If such a design is used for flexographic printing, then it is difficult. First of all, the use of double-color printing in small text is a weak item of flexo printing. Flexo printing is inferior to offset printing in registration accuracy, and there will be a bilateral phenomenon. In addition, because the dot expansion is larger than the offset printing, especially in the high-light dot printing, it will increase the difficulty of plate making and printing.


However, the ink layer of offset printing is thin, which is a weakness of it. On the contrary, the strength of flexo printing is that the ink layer is thick and suitable for large-area field printing. So for the design of flexo products, we need to avoid the following:


· Small text, small lines;

· Two or more colors of overprinted lines or text;

· Small anti-white text or reverse white lines;

· Picture high-light off network, or 1% small network;

· Make lines and texts in Photoshop software;

· Design wide and long bars and solids in the horizontal direction of the printing cylinder;

· Avoid long and wide gradient designs in the printing direction;

· Large area of the field and outlets and small text on the same page;

· Inconsistent operation software;


Since different materials are affected by tension and drying during printing, different degrees of expansion and contraction may occur, so it is also necessary to pay attention to the imposition or paper feeding direction of the product during design. Due to improper printing direction, product registration will be adversely affected.


The film material itself is easy to expand and contract, requires high tension control for printing, and has high requirements for the drying system. At present, the equipment of domestic flexographic printing film products is basically satellite or stacked. The width of the satellite machine is wide, and the film material is stretched by tension. This requires the pressure to be increased appropriately during printing. If it is a traditional printing plate, the sample will have a large height in the high light after the pressure is increased. Expansion, 2% of the dots will expand to 10% to 14%, such a highlight will appear a bit dark, it is easy to form a hard mouth phenomenon at the transition. The laser version can make up for this deficiency. For film products, special treatment should be carried out on the color separation to develop a reasonable process to show the advantages of flexo printing.


At present, the number of lines of domestic satellite-type machine printing products is basically 80-120 lines. If the cable products are printed using traditional flexo, the printed results are not very fine. On the one hand, it is affected by the low number of lines, and on the other hand, it is due to the expansion of the dot of the traditional flexo. If laser flexography is used, the printed product is visually more elaborate due to the small dot spread.


The stability of the printing material is also very important. The softness and hardness of the film will also have a certain influence on the adhesion of the printing ink. The high-density film material is not particularly good on the ink, and the soft film material is better.


The printing factory should formulate a reasonable printing process for the characteristics of different printing materials, and effectively record the data of each printed product to ensure that the quality of the printed matter will be consistent with the previous one when the order is re-produced.
