Electrostatic imaging technology is the first digital printing technology developed. Electrostatic imaging is mainly divided into five steps of imaging, inking, toner transfer, fixing and cleaning. Imaging is by imaging a suitable photosensitive surface and controlling the light source. The printed image corresponds to the position of the light signal on the photoconductor drum. The image of this evenly charged surface is partially discharged, with the result that the areas of exposure and discharge coincide with the desired printed image. After an electrical signal is formed on the photoconductor drum, the electrostatically charged toner is adsorbed by the charge on the photoconductor drum, and after development exposure, the latent image on the photoconductor drum becomes a visible influence of the adsorbed toner.
The toner then turns directly from the photoconductor drum to the substrate. However, in order to transfer the charged toner from the surface of the photoconductor drum to the paper, it is necessary to generate an electrostatic force through a power source, and the toner is transferred to the paper by the supporting force of the contact pressure between the drum surface and the printing material. . However, the toner that has just been transferred to the paper is unstable, and it is usually necessary to melt and fix the toner on the paper under heat and contact pressure, which is why the paper just coming out of the toner copying machine is heated. the reason.
However, for an electrophotographic digital printing device, after the image is fixed on the paper, a process of cleaning the photoconductor drum is required, that is, the electric charge remaining on the photoconductor drum and a small amount of toner particles are removed. Mechanical cleaning and electronic cleaning are generally used. Mechanical cleaning is the use of brushing or pumping to remove residual toner particles; electronic cleaning is done by uniform surface illumination, neutralizing the electric field on the surface, and removing toner particles. This way the photoconductor drum can be prepared for the next print and recharged.
Digital printing machines using electrostatic imaging technology have always dominated digital printing equipment.
