Drying and curing are different processes. What is the difference between them? In the solvent-free compounding process, what process is cured and how are the curing temperature and time set?

Drying

In the chemical industry, drying generally refers to the process of vaporizing moisture (or solvent) in a material by heat energy and removing the generated vapor by an inert gas. For example, when a solid is dried, moisture (or solvent) diffuses from the inside of the solid to the surface and then vaporizes from the surface of the solid. For example, a solvent-based ink solidifies from a fluid state into a solid film after its solvent is volatilized. Therefore, the drying in the printing compound is also volatile drying.

Cure

Curing refers to a chemical reaction that is accomplished by the addition of a cross-linking agent, such as photo-curing, which refers to the light-induced curing of monomers, oligomers, or polymer matrices. Therefore, drying and curing are two different types.

The common curing temperature for two-component adhesives is 35-45°C, depending on the adhesive grade, and often related to the composite structure and application. The common cure time is 24 to 48 hours, depending on the adhesive brand, composite structure, and post-processing methods. Usually, the curing time can be shorter when the post-processing is slitting or recombination, and the curing time is usually longer when the post-processing is a bag.
